Buddha Stix Rangiora — Restaurant in Canterbury

After long wait it’s really good to see Buddha Stix re-opening in its new Rangiora location. We used to be regular customers in Riccarton before it closed, so we were stocked to hear about our favourite Asian restaurant coming back and what a come back it is ! Bigger, better, modern, just amazing. It is a bit drive from Chch city , but totally worth it! I love what they did with the place and it was totally worth the wait, it’s completely refurbished, modern with 2 levels for dining and some space in attic outside. More staff than before and they are all friendly and eager to help. Such a difference compared to old location. Overall atmosphere is relaxed, yet gives a feeling of fine dining. Food of course is just amazing as always, great selection of modern Asian dishes , something for everyone with a good choice of vegetarian and vegan options. Glad to see our favourites such as spicy herbs, coconut curry, hot plate veggies and tofu back on the menu. This is what we have been missing. The new location is certainly more fancy than the old one, almost feels for special occasions and indeed there were many people celebrating birthdays and other special occasions on the evening we came. It’s also good to see that place was fully packed only at its second weekend after opening and they even had to turn people away without bookings. Well done and can’t wait...

There is for mobility impaired folk, ramp access on the West side of the building. (hard to notice when coming in) But in side it was a bit cramped on the ground floor and other floors inside do need stairs and or steps to access, Not much space between tables for a wheelchair or walker frame to move about inside. (this is common in many restaurants, I find) Our table was not set up ,as we had booked and we were told to wait, but I insisted we fix settings promptly which they did, Food wise a very extensive menu. but we had some trouble with quality, some courses great but some uncooked and we had to send back. Drinks wise great cocktails but limited wine & beer choices. The building facade, interior decor and all the pics of food on the web site make you feel that you are gonging somewhere special. Good marketing people mostly friendly but our bill was incorrect and we were overcharged. I say, great but the overall experience not...

Last minute booking for a meal with a small group of 4 at the Rangiora Buddha Stix. Was seated at their grand table with luxurious seats that made us feel like royalty. Amazing restaurant with amazing atmosphere. Ordered 3 combination starters between 4 of us along with the chicken satay sticks. Food came quickly and our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. Several take home containers later and the starters were finished and the mains arrived. I ordered to Vietnamese Fish which was delivered out on a piping hot grill plate along with a warning about it being hot from the most amazing waitress (Summer). We all joked about wanting to look at the desert menu but we needed more take home containers for the remainder of the mains and decided we really didn't have any space for desert. Highly recommend. 10/10! While I'm sure all the staff are great, Summer (our waitress) was the icing for us and made the whole experience...
