This is quite simply the best Indian food we have eaten in a very, very long time. The attention to detail and the treatment of the spices meant for absolutely amazing meals we could not stop eating. We always order onion bhajees as an entree to give a good indication of the care of spices. They were exceptional - spices and herbs we had not encountered ever before. The mains were out of this world. The prawns in the Jalfrezi even had their tails removed and there were plenty of them alongside plenty of veges. They accommodated my dairy free vegetarianism so well by adapting whatever dish I wanted. It was packed with veges and the care and level of spices was amazing. We both had medium spiced dishes and they were very on point in terms of heat.
The service was exceptional and again the attention to detail heartening and appreciated. I watched the bar staff inspect a glass and find it not clear enough so put it out to wash and get another one to inspect. Not many restaurants bother with this.
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. If you are in Rangiora make sure you visit for a truly delicious Indian meal. They take care to look after your dietary requirements and you will love...
Read moreTook my group of adults with disabilities for the lunch time special. It turns out there was only one lunch time option, the advertising of $9.50 on the board outside was deceiving, we were unaware it was for only the Dahl, not our butter chicken or korma . The meals cost us more than we thought when we came to pay and were very small portions at that, sooo not worth it. When we paid I questioned the higher price and the employee was rude and started to argue with me ... not cool in front of my guys. We'll definitely not be going back
Edited to reply to you: I'm very certain your advertising was deceptive. Also I did ask as we all walked in the door to make sure for us all. You mumbled something when you seated us but you did not make it clear and obvious that the only lunchtime special option is the lentil curry. You said the menu you handed out was the lunch menu. I have visited pocket full of spices in the past and the portions have absolutely got smaller also one small bowl of rice between six of us was extremely mean. You were rude and upset my group of vunerable adults. As I said we won't be returning and I doubt their...
Read moreYou know, sometimes, you just get lucky. That's exactly what I thought as I was sitting down tucking into dinner at A Pocket Full of Spices. A casual atmosphere with very attentive waiting staff, soft jingly Indian music in the background, a few quiet tables, and right in the heart of good old Rangiora. I saw a nice selection of dishes. I had a Kingfisher - as it's licensed. Prices looked about right I paid $32 for a good dinner and a beer. I chose a chief special "Lamb Rangiora" and it was absolutely on the money...spicy as. Man! I thought - these guys can cook! and there was plenty of it. No skimping on ingredients and they're obviously proud of the quality. If you love Indian food you'll not be disappointed here. ...
