We come from a long way south of Ashburton and always make a point of stopping at Robert Harris for brunch or second breakfast when we're on our way north. The quality of the food, from cabinet and menu, has always been the finest kind, so this time we tried the savoury mince. It was nothing of the sort. It had been cooked to death in a frying pan with nothing added to make it even remotely savoury and when presented was just a dry tasteless crumbly heap on the toast, with an egg on top. We made up a meal from the cabinets which was extremely bland and less than satisfactory. The coffe was only just drinkable. As we were leaving 30minutes later, I saw others being served from the kitchen menu. When I asked about this, I was told that they had changed the rules. Food was ok but the poached eggs were only just poached as the clear egg white was still runny. $5.90 for a 300ml Pepsi that is $2.25 retail is to much considering they will be buying them cheaper direct from Pepsi, 38% mark up.
