Rolleston Bakery — Restaurant in Canterbury

During a recent visit to the shopping centre, I had set my sights on savouring a sausage roll but, alas, they were all sold out—a testament to their popularity, I suppose. Nonetheless, I opted for a cheese and mince pie instead and was not disappointed in the slightest. The pastry was the flakiest I've encountered in Canterbury, striking a perfect balance without being overly oily. Filled generously with mince and gravy, the pie boasted the ideal ratio for a truly satisfying bite. The addition of a cheese-grilled topping added a delightful crunch, elevating the overall experience. I have provided a 5 star for the following reasons. The store is clean, that is very important when comes to food that you want to eat. As you will see in my images that the food is presented beautifully and well organized. I have found that the staff are friendly and even remembered me on my second visit weeks apart. That is service on it's own. I purchase dough here to make pizzas and vetkoek. The dough cooks nicely and great flavor. I have found that the pies are heavenly too. All the display food looked fresh.

I would recommend this bakery any day and I will continue...

Disappointing Experience, I recently purchased a chicken Cranberry pie for $8.20, but what I got was shocking. Inside the pie, I found a single piece of chicken that was roughly the size of a 50-cent coin, all only a creamy sauce. I was expecting a hearty, filling pie, but this was a rip-off.

Unfortunately, this isn't my first disappointing experience with their pies. Last time, I tried their chicken mushroom pie and had a similar experience.

For the price, I expect a lot more value and quality. Needless to say, I won't be returning to purchase their pies again.
