Shackleton's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Canterbury

We had the most wonderful dining experience at Shakeltons Bar & Restaurant at the Brinkley Hotel in Methven. I had the lamb rump with pea purée and vegetables – absolutely divine! My friends ordered various pastas and every single one was delicious. For dessert, 5 of us couldn’t resist the homemade apple pie (incredible!) while the other 2 enjoyed the lemon cheesecake, which was just as amazing.

The service was top-notch – friendly, attentive, and welcoming. A special mention to Emiie, the manager, who is so lovely, helpful, and incredibly organised. She made sure everything ran smoothly and that we all had the best experience.

Highly recommend dining here – fantastic food, warm atmosphere, and excellent service. Can’t wait...

We had a Saturday dinner, the restaurant was bustling. Good to see a mixture of locals and visitors. The Nobashi Prawns, Truffle Arancini and Sesame Prawn Toast were divine! I then had the Fried Chicken burger which was great, served on a brioche bun with spicy kewpie mayo. Then still managed to squeeze in the beautifully presented Chocolate Fondant. We had a lovely meal at Shackleton's Bar & Grill. The staff were friendly and attentive (special thanks to Martina & Mia), the range of food and drinks available was extensive, with many local ingredients and suppliers. The atmosphere was nice, with a fire to keep the restaurant warm in the cool winter months. We were sorry we didn't have room for dessert, as the options sounded delicious! Will hopefully be back again someday soon...
