The Alpine Grind — Restaurant in Canterbury

What a find! Serving up delicious Kokako Coffee, The Alpine Grind also has a range of homemade cabinet food available. All options looked tempting, but we had to limit ourselves to a doughnut and scone to share, as we had lunch booked. The toasties appeared to be made with proper sourdough bread and there were various flavour combinations to choose from. Coffees were well made, strong and hot, and it was nice to have a good hot chocolate instead of the usual sugary Cadbury drink that most cafes serve up.

The lovely lady behind the counter (owner?) was friendly and tolerant of my father who assumed her assistant was the 'boss' just because he was male! While we were enjoying our food and drinks, we noticed a number of patrons coming in for takeaway coffee and food, so this place is obviously well-loved by locals.

Hopefully we'll be back again someday to try some of those...

Awesome food, delicious drinks, great WiFi, friendly staff. Can’t beat it! Ordered the coca and berry smoothies. Both were wonderful. Refreshing and yummy for a hot day! Got 2 sandwiches and enjoyed the pickle and ham toastie very much. Cappuccino with chocolate powder was a winner. Loved the atmosphere so much we came back 3 times....

We were grateful to see that The Alpine Grind was open from 6am as we needed to have breakfast early before the snow shuttle bus arrived. We loved the warm and welcoming vibe of the cafe and the pastries and bacon and egg roll were absolutely delicious! The coffee was the best I’ve had in days....
