We enjoy coming here. It's a good authentic taste and really reminds me of what I've seen in China.
The idea is you pick what you want from a refrigerated cabinet, they weigh it, and you pay a set amount per 100g. You then say whether you want the spicy dry fried preparation (my favourite), or the schezwan soup style (my wife's favourite). They take it out the back and cook it.
I think it's quite affordable. Quality does vary a bit, but I've always enjoyed it. I have experienced the undercooked bubbles in the bubble tea that others have mentioned, but that was just one time, and we've been 3 or 4 times.
The environment is simple and low-key. Definitely not fine-dining. Again, very similar to what I've seen in China.

Read moreWent there with friends for the spicy hot pot and lamb stew. There really weren't choices in the fridge for hot pot (food looked not fresh/dull) so we only took a few stuff for lamb stew, and ordered some dishes, including beef noodles, dumplings and fried noodles.
The lamb stew was ok. But all other food, the dumplings, beef noodles and fried noodles were way too salty.
They didn't have enough bowls for us, which was annoying.
