Golden Fish Bar — Restaurant in Christchurch

On my one and only visit here (Wed 1/3/23) I ordered a Giant Burger ($13) and Chips ($4.20). The chips were small in their portion, blatantly re-cooked, and absolutely smothered in salt. Horrible. The burger started out pretty good (though a bit sloppily put together), maybe a 7/10, but about 3/4 of the way through it I caught sight of the bacon - it wasn't cooked. An hour later I had stomach pain, and then diarrhoea. The next morning I had diarrhoea again, and was dehydrated for the entire day, despite my best efforts. I wasn't feeling great. I still don't feel 100%, and I'd wager I'll have diarrhoea again on my next visit to the bathroom.

Have been going to this Fish n Chip shop since I was 5yrs old and has always had a Great Standard of food...unfortunately over the last year the standard has dropped we have noticed...chips not as good overcooked and Fish has shot up almost double...chips are now weighed and never were in the last 40+ yrs we had my 50th tonight and my Parents whom live up the road 2 mins away went to a different Fish n Chip shop in Clyde rd miles from the local just because fish was almost half the price for the same fish....its a shame because we used to travel from Woolston to Riccarton just to get dinner sometimes!!! What a waste of time and money. I got 2 fish, 1 scoop of chips, 3 potatoe scallops, 3 fish bites and it was so oily that after eating a small amount of food, I felt like spewing. The food tasted burnt and too much batter on fish and also on potatoe scallops. There food were advertised online which the prices were cheap but when we got there, their prices did not match what was on there site. To be honest I will not go there and waste my money, if you want a good fish n chips shop, then I suggest you go to Theos fresh fish n chips. There online site is pretty and also has...
