Told the waitress we were ready to be seated for our reservation. 15 minutes elapsed so I went up to the bar again to be told "the restaurant is through there" 2. We ordered food... more of that later. 3. As it was valentines day we ordered a $45 bottle of bubbles. The waitress came back with a different type of bubbles in the ice bucket and said "the manager says we don't have the wine you ordered and to substitute it with this one for the same price. is that ok?" A quick look at the wine menu showed this wine wasn't even listed. So I asked how much it was to which she replied "I've no idea sorry" so I said "in that case no we won't accept the substitution and can you tell the manager that's poor form" so we ordered just glasses off the drinks menu. 4. There were only about 7 other people in the restaurant when we ordered our food but about 6 came in while we were waiting. Food was being left at the serving hatch whilst people were seated got bottles of water drinks orders taken etc. 5. 45 minutes after we placed our order and with us starting to get agitated our food was placed on the hatch. But a few more people came in....were seated....given water.... drinks orders taken whilst our food sat there. Eventually the property owner was walking by had a look in the restaurant, and to his credit, he grabbed the food and bought it to our table. I explained that we'd been waiting 45 minutes for our food he said nonchalantly "yeah that's about 15 minutes longer than it should be I take your comment on board" no apology..... which is the least I'd have expected. Nothing off the bill at the end..... which would have been a nice gesture. The staff need more training on prioritisation and the manager needs to give more support to them. This one not so much: over 45 minute wait for dinner to arrive, which is alright, but there was no warning of this when we arrived, and it was not busy, and due to a time constraint we were rushed into eating when it arrived at the table. I ordered the 21 day aged steak medium rare and it was served rare. Portion sizes also shrunk between this visit and the last one 3 weeks ago. The size of the mash served with the steak was disappointing. Cauliflower cheese had very little cheese. When I sent back the steak, I asked for a top up of mash which was refused. The same piece of rare steak was cooked and served again, no fresh piece. No discount offered when I was asked how the meal was and I said I was very disappointed. Read moreWe came here with our 2 sons for a birthday dinner for my partner. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. We were really stoked with the experience and decided we'd make sure we wrote a review based on food and service. Then the owner, Graeme Horncastle, came to personally introduce himself and thank us for coming to his restaurant, that made the experience so much more special for us all. We went to reception to pay and, bless him, Graeme was back with a bag of lollies each for our boys and he'd even gone so far as to find 2 coke cans with champ written on them. What a wonderful man, what a wonderful restaurant. We feel honored to have had the experience we had with such a spectacular human being.
