Okay⊠wow! TL;DR They have perfect cinnamon scrolls. Literally perfect. The sourdough and pies are also the best Iâve had second to none other than (maybe!) my own homemade ones.
Walked past here just on the way elsewhere and noticed it was new (2nd day open!), so went in to check it out, and thought the pies looked good! Had other lunch plans so didnât get anything. Recently we talked about how pies are always disappointing (too much gravy!) and havenât had a good one in forever, canât even remember where to get a good one itâs been so long (Hillyers, Darfield, Fairlie etc all still too much gravy!)
Came back the next day. So glad we did. Got the curried lamb pie, pulled pork baguette, and a spinach and feta pesto pocket, to share between two (we went halves on everything).
Seriously so good. Best pie Iâve had ever except home made ones. Meaty, pastry great, I was a little hesitant at first because I prefer super flaky pastry, whereas theirs is more softer and flatter like traditional English pies, but I was pleasantly impressed with how great it was, but the flavour and ratio was actually so good, you must try it!
If you donât like curry flavours or lamb, the steak cheese and jalapeño was amazing (we came back the net day for lunch/dinner lol) The pies had a perfect ratio of meat to gravy. The flavours are excellent. The pastry works well.
The coffee was great, not burnt, extracted well, unlike 90% of the coffee I get out.
But the cinnamon scroll⊠wow. I get a cinnamon scroll every time I walk past one. And I check every cabinet every time I pass one. It was literally perfect in every way. Soft bread, perfect amount of not-too-sweet cream cheese icing, and the cinnamon middle had melted and cooled to make a perfect crunch on the bottom. Not too crunchy or sticky or sweet⊠it was literally perfect.
I will forever come here.
And the staff are superstars, super friendly, super keen to do better (asking for feedback!), just⊠amazing. Passionate! So good to see people loving what they do and giving it everything theyâve got. It really shows in the food here for sure. Easily my new favourite place for any time of day eating...
Read moreI happened to drive past this shop and decided to stop in to check out the pies. I arrived just 15 minutes before closing and found only a few pies left in the hot display. I chose a chili steak pie and was pleasantly surprised by its taste and quality. I would compare it to the pies from Ferg Bakery in Queenstown. The pieces of steak were well-sized and clean, with no fat or any undesirable bits, and the pastry was fluffy with just the right amount of crunch. The staff was friendly and polite. I also enjoyed the coffee, though I'm not a big fan of it, so coffee experts should take my opinion with a grain of salt, haha. Everything was perfect! I will definitely be returning to this shop and telling my friends and...
