Cromwell Brew House — Restaurant in Cromwell Community

Came here with friends for dinner. My friends had chicken parmigiana with fries and my other friend had the stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon with fries and my husband had the double lamb shanks. I had the carbonara. I was disappointed in mine, the first initial mouthfuls were good then I felt some kind of heat which really put me off. It had, what looked like, chilli flakes through it?? I asked the waiter and he said it had sweet chilli sauce through it. You DO NOT put sweet chilli sauce in carbonara!! So I left the rest of it as it was not great. Chicken parmigiana was great apparently! It was large too. Lamb shanks were fantastic. The stuffed chicken was nice too and moist. However all of the meals except mine, had a gravy that just did not fit the meals. It tasted like bistro powder and water. It was not good. Overall, the service was really good and attentive. I would go back to try other things but the gravy and the sweet chilli sauce were the only things that were bad. Oh!! And I wanted a side of fries!!!! Nice wee pub for a drink, but getting a meal is a bit disorganized, we got brought the wrong meals even though we had a number on our table, the lady behind the counter couldn't work out what I wanted even though I was pointing to it on the menu, clarified with her twice battered blue cod not the pan fried....what arrived at the table pan fried. Or should I say a whole plat of chips with a couple of tiny pieces of fish. What upset me more than that though is there was an elderly couple out for a meal, the gentleman then ordered ice cream and was waiting nearly an hour for one bowl. Not nice to see this elderly man have to keep asking for a bowl of ice cream. Not sure what's going on but maybe an incense in staffing could be an idea or...

Service was slow, meals were only warm. salad on my meal was just lettice... nothing else. The young lady at the bar was very nice, very helpful. But there is no way in hell that any employer could expect one person to do all that had to be done on a extremely busy night. She had to meet customers, serve drinks, clean tables, be a waitress... we felt sorry for her. I don't blame any of the staff, they did their absolute best. Their employer should have had full staff on. Easter weekend...two big events on in the area. Fortunately another lady came in to help. Don't put pressure on good staff like this or you...
