This is a true reflection of myself and my partners experience yesterday in here, we have photos as evidence of the slimey eggs etc Well where do you start with this place....... Possibly the most miserable staff in central otago maybe even the South island. The worst service, no smiles, no conversation, no atmosphere except that of a morgue, massively overpriced and below average food. I would leave a minus star if there was an option as one star is massively overrated. So myself, my wife and our toddler and baby decided on a walk into cromwell for a nice breakfast at a cafe. We almost went next door but it wasn't open, we should of waited. We entered the kitchen cafe in Cromwell, with no greeting what so ever, and sat ourselves down at a table. We found our own high chair and then went to the counter to order. Greeted by a waitress who either 1.hates working there or 2.hates her life, not too sure I couldn't tell from the frowning face which it was. Anyway, I ordered a breakfast and asked if I could have beans instead of mushrooms, big mistake!! What a drama!! First I was told no. Then the waitress went and asked who I assume was the owner, she said no. I then politely asked if I could pay for beans seperate on the side, she checked, we waited, she eventually came back and said yes. Amazing!!. We paid for our breakfasts and drinks and sat down. We checked the receipt. $8 for beans??? I thought maybe I oredered beans and toast as a meal. We waited. 30 mins passed. This breakfast must be great I was thinking as it was taking a while. It arrived. I was wrong. Firstly we was brought our food by a waitress even more miserable than the one at the till. She presented me with a bowl of mush ( a browny creamy squashed blob of food of some sort). This is the breif conversation that followed Me - is that mushrooms? Waitress- no it's your beans Me - oh, is that it? Waitress - yes you ordered beans as an extra Me - it was $8 , do I get anything else with it? Waitress - no Me - $8 is a bit much for a blob of beans? Waitress - they are home made! Me - are they gold plated ? Waitress - I'm not sure you will have to ask the chef Me - brilliant She walks off.......... What a pleb!!! They are homemade!!!! Oh well that's fine then! Charge me an arm or leg if they are homemade, why didn't you just say so! You utter moron. Hopefully she is still checking if they are gold plated beans otherwise Ill keep my fingers crossed for a massive refund!!! Moving on from the useless waitress and onto the food. Rubbish, Basically rubbish. The fried eggs were slimey where they haven't quite been cooked properly, the sausages were lukewarm at best and the toast was basically bread just slightly warmer. We ate half of the breakfast, mainly as our toddler was eating the bacon, then left the rest. We put on our coats and left, to no polite "goodbye" or " was everything ok with your meals" nothing. The rudest place we have ever been in. I recommend going next door or anywhere else in New Zealand. If you eat here you will not enjoy your food, the atmosphere or your wallet. Rubbish. Change the name to...

The food was ok, the staff were pleasant, nice except the owner / manager, a short white haired lady was rude. The day after xmas and asked if we could charge our ebike batteries which only needed 30min to charge 10% for the dunstan trail as we needed full battery as there was no shuttles left so a full day round trip and she wouldnt. The staff was so friendly and was already charging it for us and she unplugged it and told us it would cost her too much for her electrical bill / would overload the electrics?!?!? We spent at least $60 on food and drink, a lot of places have usb plugs etc etc like its already charging but she felt the need to unplug it and give it to us.

Also made us move from a table we were already seated at as apparently it was reserved… no one showed up at the apparent reserved time even 30min past “reserved time” The short white haired lady ruined what could be a very nice cafe, feel sorry for the friendly staff, they could do...

We own a business in hospitality. My wife and I decide to try “The Kitchen” (use to be the tin goose) for a late lunch after managing to get an hours break before heading back to work. We arrived dead on 2.30 and tried to order off the black board. But was told we are not taking orders after 2.30 and we could only eat from the display cabinet. If this is how a new business treats potential new customers, I was really disappointed 😞. Maybe 1 minute after the displayed time ( really) that’s fine we will not be recommending our guests to go here for a bite to eat. At least “Nicols Greenworld “ was open great food friendly helpful service and very busy. It’s all about customer service. You won’t be in business very long if you treat people like this. Your...

Great little cafe. Fresh ingredients and a good variety of food options, also has all the staple coffee and tea lattes you'd expect to find at any cafe. The only reason I took off one star is because of their hours of operation. By 2:30pm, they've already got all their food put away and are serving only drinks, even though they "close" at 3:00. This is way too early! What if a local is strolling past at 4 or 5pm and feels like a coffee? You're missing out on a nice niche market of folks who like their coffee and a bite in the late afternoon. That being said, a nice place and we visit often.

I had the pleasure of visiting The Kitchen Cromwell in Cromwell, New Zealand and I have to say that it was worth the wait! Although I had to wait for almost an hour to get my food, the end result was more than worth it. The food was absolutely delicious and exceeded all of my expectations. The flavors were well balanced and the presentation was beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure that I was comfortable while I waited. I would highly recommend The Kitchen Cromwell to anyone looking for a delicious meal. The wait may be long, but the food is worth it.
