Stanley's — Restaurant in Devonport-Takapuna

Before I write this review I thought I was the only who felt unwelcome to the cafe. Walked in with my little toddler this morning, none of the staff care enough to smile or greet us. Sat down on a table, had to bring the highchair myself to the table, a sign saying order at the front so I believe noone would come over to greet us nor take order because the menu was already on the table. Ordered a mocha and almond croissant, food was average and coffee was served in a glass instead of cup. As I was having my food, the lady (blonde, might be the manager of the day) was very friendly with known customers! They laughed they had a little chit chat which felt like a total different cafe at the sudden. If she could just put on a smile and greet every customer, then I'm sure there won't be so many 1 star reviews. One smile could make a big difference. Walked out the cafe without any goodbye or thank you, it was like we weren't even there. Will definitely not going back again (this was my 3rd visit so I did give them and myself chances) and will not recommend to anyone at all. It was our first time trying out the local cafe up the road from us. I was excited. I love trying new cafes and I am a fan of good friendly service with decent food. The lady (I believe she was the manager on shift) bluntly told me to wait untill she cleaned the empty table I was trying to sit on. She didn’t smile or say it in a friendly manner. I let it slide. However then they brought out a very over cooked Filo pastry that took forever. Bad service and average food. I live just round the corner and driven past many times and thought I would stop in for a Mocha (takaway) the lady (dark haired) that served me was pleasant but the blonde lady that made the coffee was more sour than a lemon sorry I ruined your day and you could not even smile, I said thank you but you did not even look at me........Such a pity as the shop is in such a nice location and the coffee was not bad at all just the service is poor!!
