Very disappointed last evening in my phoned takeaway order for chicken fried rice, my first experience of this business. Notably small amount of chicken, no vegetables appeared to have been fresh cooked (all seemed to be from pre-packaged frozen), and too much of the rice itself seemed to be clumped together. At $22 it was $4.50 more than from my normal takeaways supplier, JL's Recipe, in East Coast Rd, away on annual holidays. The latter consistently supplies much more chicken, fresh vegs (including broccoli) and the consistency of the rice is much better. Phone service was brusque but efficient. However, when I entered this unfamiliar restaurant by the main doors straight ahead of me a woman server rushed me away from the main dining area to a counter at the side. She seemed quite unwelcoming, especially when directing me to exit through a side door which upon my arrival had been obscured by parked cars close by. I feel perhaps this restaurant should concentrate on what seems to be a highly priced menu and its dine-in guests. As for me,...
Read moreFirst time trying this restaurant. This place was definitely above my expectations. Most of the dish served quick and tasted good. I especially like the sweet and sour deep fried fish the most, that was perfectly cooked. The yam basket although looked a bit dry was actually really good. The basket part of the dish was crispy and the yam just the right texture. The worst dish was sweet and sour pork, it was not crispy and tasted like the ones from food court. Not sure why it is that bad when they can cook sweet and sour fish perfectly. The black pepper sizzling beef was quite good and tender but I felt lack the traditional black pepper strong taste. Service was quite good and quite like the spacious feeling in the restaurant. It was comfortable and people can have conversation quite easily here.
I really wanted to give 5/5 for this place but there were something not so good that I mentioned above. So I will give 4.5/5, unfortunately not available option.
Will definitely be back thought to try...
Read moreBusy. One my visit, it was quite noisy with people talking very loudly at the table next to us. Tables can be a little bit too close; I got trapped between two chairs & the people sitting on those chairs didnt care that I was wedged between them & couldnt get out. That was awkward. Good thing is there wasnt a time limit for dining in. They still use trolleys to wheel food around. Some staff have very limited english so communication was challenging. We tried a porridge dish & it was nice. Other dishes were ok but didnt really enjoy the xiaolongbao or siu mi; both had a slightly funny taste. The white cake dessert also had an odd after taste. The pork pastry was the best dish of the ones we tried. Pricing was ok. About $72 for 3 people. Tight carparking area but there is some street parking nearby and an ice cream...
