I recently visited The Offering cafe in Greytown and ordered a medium-sized takeaway Mocha for $5.90. Unfortunately, I found that the size of the cup was disappointingly small for the price paid. If you visit the cafe, I recommend checking the cup size for yourself to see if it matches expectations for a medium drink.
More concerning, however, was the quality of the Mocha itself. The milk was burnt, which resulted in an unpleasant and bitter taste, making the drink almost undrinkable. Given the cafeās reputation and popularity, I was surprised by this poor delivery of such a basic order. I wonder if there might have been an off day or another factor that led to such an unsatisfactory experience.
Overall, I hope this feedback helps improve the quality and consistency of the coffee served.
Update to my review to owner after owners response below:
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Iād like to clarify that my review was meant to be constructive, contributing to the ongoing sustainability and improvement of your business. The intention was never to dissuade potential patrons but rather to offer my observation, allowing others to make informed choices.
Regarding the takeaway surcharge, I appreciate that the additional $0.50 for a disposable cup is transparently communicated. I fully understood and accepted this at the time. My concern lies not with the surcharge but with the cup size, which seemed disproportionately small for a medium drink. My review simply suggests that future visitors might prefer to dine in and enjoy their coffee while saving that extra charge.
For those opting for a takeaway, the expectation is often to receive a quality coffee that doesnāt require a return trip to the cafe for adjustments. When purchasing coffee on the go, customers generally need to keep moving. In my case, I was on a tight schedule, traveling over the hill to Wellington. I only had the chance to taste the coffee at the southern end of Greytown, by which time returning to the cafe for a remake was impractical. Leaving constructive feedback was the most reasonable step I could take.
I hope you understand that my feedback was shared with the best intentions. Thank you once again, and I wish you...

The changes and new paint look awesome was nice to see the same staff, but unfortunately they all didnāt look very happy, I found this very weird as usually the team are always very inviting. I got to the till and was served all cool as I go to take my delicious caramel slice away.. I heard a male chef get very aggressive and very disrespectful towards the two women out the front. I didnāt know what the heck happened but this guy was swearing and carrying on. I could feel the tension and the heat coming off everybody in the que behind me. The two women kept it very cool and carried on. Few minutes went by had to take my little one to the bathroom and this guy was carrying on. I was not the only one to notice 2 tables before the bathroom entry weāre talking about the what they heard at the cash register. I came back sat down had my coffee..started my lunch and daaaa daaaa dummm my aranchini balls were cold in the middle. This is not my first time experiencing food problems here, last Monday I came in for some beautiful scrambled egg and they had so much salt and they were over cooked :(((( whatās happening guys! I feel gutted for the ladyās and sad that the food isnāt as high grade as it was with Jack n...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell, I am actually flabbergasted to say the least, we walk in and there are loads of tables in the middle free, 1 or 2 booked on the sides.
Firstly standing and waiting for about 5 min before one of the very laid back waiters come and say ācan I help you?ā we wanted a table for 7 - he then walks off to talk to someone laughing and joking with the other waiters.
But in the way back sorry guys we wont be able to help you - when we asked regarding there being so many single tables in the middle and around, cant you move them together? - no, sorry guys we cant help you.
Now under normal circumstances I understand if a place is busy itās busy - but they werenāt and the fact that he says it while walking away - like dismissing my mother is where it got a bit unacceptable- when my mom says thats a bit weird given the tables free he just said sorry and walked off. - very dismissive and disrespectful.
I cant rate the food as I didnāt have the opportunity to taste it nor will I - but if you want to deal with people like that then totally...
