My sons favourite cafe in the world...we often travel through Greytown and if the cafe is open we stop! We recently stopped in after Te Matatini 2019 and Greytown was very busy. We walked in, and it looked very full. We are a cultural family and I wear a moko kauae on my chin, in the busyness, and being out of our local town where the tattoos are common, I did not know what to expect, would we be turned away? So I politely asked if there was any rooms for us. As she looked around, I was pleasantly surprised to see a man approach my husband, also with many tribal tattoos on his arms, and say My Friend, its pretty full in here but I can seat you at the 4 chairs just there in front of the window if that could work. We replied, yes please and he politely said, I’ll put a reserved on it for you... Only three days earlier we had stopped at another cafe in Te Hauke, where I had waited 20mins to be served, and put that down to being busy. This cafe also had a gift shop, so while I waited for the order, I found somethings to purchase, I jumped back in line to make the purchase. They served everybody in front of me...then when it got to me, they went back in to the kitchen and acted like I wasn’t there. Thank you Main St Deli Cafe for always making us feel like there is nothing different about us! We will always stop in when we are...

A bustling café and clearly a favourite in Greytown, with a steady stream of patrons coming and going, from leather clad bikers and tourists to locals and families with children.

Service is friendly, attentive, efficient, and personable. We were greeted with a warm smile the moment we stepped in and offered assistance straight away.

There’s a good mix of seating options, including indoor tables and a lovely outdoor area at the back. I particularly love the whimsical décor- leaves hanging from the ceiling, quirky framed prints, and charming touches of bric-a-brac throughout. It gives the space a cosy, playful character that’s both inviting and unique.

The toilets are clean and well-maintained, though with only two available, there can be a bit of a wait during busy periods- understandable given the size and popularity of the café.

The coffee is excellent, and the food menu is impressively varied. From cakes and lasagna to vegetarian dishes, along with crowd-pleasers like pancakes and eggs Benedict. Breakfast finishes at 11:30am, so be sure to get in early if that’s what you’re after.

I highly recommend this café and will definitely be back to try...

I went here with my two children n 4 adults I split a pancakes between my 5 and 2 year old n ordered a side of hash browns for them $7 fr two triangle hash browns was a little steep the pancakes were flat dry n just tasted of flour they didn't eat them the seasonal fruit on top was old tasting n soggy just orange n kiwi fruit. I had the potato cake for $26, they then tell me there out of potato cakes and it would be replaced by hash browns I said OK thats fine thinking I'd get more than just one tiny triangle hash brown as a replacement. my meal consisted of one egg one tiny. hash brown one small slice of hallumi very small amount of spinach n way to many sauces to fill the plate not to mention I got my meal 15 minutes after the rest of the table like they had forgotten and it was cold. by this point my toddler was over it n I had to take her outside. I'm local I don't go out often with young kids and I was so disappointed way to expensive way to small of a portion I spent over $100 on food and drink n both me and my kids left hungry n had to go else were later. Staff were lovley and the back courtyard is a nice touch but food...

Found a cozy cafe in the middle of the town. Can accommodate latge number of people. Inside and outside seating available. Atmosphere is quite nice and nicely decorated. Light music and nice vibe. Place is clean and tidy.. Staff is really friendly and helpful. They know the menu well. Food is super tasty and quick service. We tried thai pumpkin soup which is so creamy and tasty. Also the whitebait salad filled sandwich is another item in the menu which is really tasted good. They have mulled wine which is handcrafted. Also can buy locally made items like jam, spreads, olive oil, crafts, etc. I would love to visit again.

This is the first time I’ve ever written a review as I’ve never been so disappointed with anywhere enough to see it necessary. The cafe its self is fine and the service was slightly above average but the prices were extortion. $22 for 2 undercooked eggs on one piece of ‘deli’ toast. My conservative estimate would be $3 worth of food and all of 3 mins to cook the two eggs (likely less based on how undercooked they were). A $19 profit margin for eggs on toast blows my mind and I’m curious to see how they justify their price tag.
