Seafood Grotto — Restaurant in Hamilton

So disappointing to see that the grottos quality of standard has dropped dramatically when purchasing a $24 takeaway meal. I would not be lying if i said you would easily get a good family meal for this price from any hamilton fish and chip shop but this skinnygirl could of munched through the lot if i was alone 😔 I understand trying to keep it healthy but The chips had zero salt that could of been easily been fixed with a couple of satches included but again to our disappointment nothing. I have enjoyed many fresh tasty fish meals in this restaurant. My mum was a regular customer she would call us to meet her at Grotto's for a kai and a catch up on what we were up to. As usual we knew most of the diners in the restaurant. There's nothing like being served fresh fish in a lite batter golden fried chips 2 eggs and fresh salad with a squeeze of lemon and of course the side dishes raw fish, kina. cream paua and mussels fresh battered however. The ambience and food and off course the friendly and helpful staff who help operate this daily business well done keep up the good work. I'll be back rate...

Had to fight my way through the front door...big wide ugly door hangers. Very plain...carpet is very old faded an patchy. Did not impress me. Basic unattractive tables...no style. My mum, cuzin, niece an I Went for lunch here. We ordered the dearest fish on da menu..3x fan fried flounder wit 2x eggs, slaw an chck nuggets, chips all round. Took round 20-25mins. My flounder was hard an not cooked...running blood through the head...raw around the bone. The eggs were over cooked, the slaw had no flavor an lacked seasoning.
