Bernies Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Hibiscus and Bays

Been going for 15 years or so, on and off. Previous management (where the name Bernie came from) was muuuuch better and responsible for 90% of the awards on the wall.

Store was very stuffy and there were a few flies around the cafe. I understand this can be difficult to manage and appreciate that none were in the food drawers. I had a butter chicken pie, which I will admit was delicious. Muffin was nice and moist.

Horrible food. We bought two croissants, a muffin, and a hash brown. The croissants were stale and sour, clearly off. Who knows how long they had been sitting on the shelf… The hash brown was so over fried that there was barely any potato left, just a thick layer of greasy crunch. It was obvious it had been refried multiple times. I can’t believe even the muffin tasted so bad. It was old, tasted off, and was borderline mouldy. I literally vomited afterward. Walls are full of "Certificates Of Excellence" but if you look closer they're all from over 20yrs ago, that's kinda false advertising. The pies I've had are ok, the coffee is always nice and the prices are reasonable. The cakes are obviously not fresh and the heated food does look dried up and shrivelled. The girl that works at the weekend obviously doesn't want to be there, it's written all over her face and her demeanour. I'll still go there just for the coffee as its in a...
