Katsubi Browns Bay — Restaurant in Hibiscus and Bays

Not impressed with Katsubi Browns Bay. I was surprised to find that a regular Katsubi bowl is now $20, I remember they used to be about $12 for ages. You may as well get a restaurant main!

We got there are 7:30 and the meat was contained in bowls or plastic bags, it was obvious they were wrapping up for the day. Flies few underneath the screen and sat on the food. I watched the server use a tong that previously handled nuts in the teriyaki chicken bowl, which I quickly pointed out as my partner is seriously allergic to nuts. It now meant the teriyaki bowl was contaminated and we couldn’t choose it anymore. The staff member seemed despondent and just disconnected from the moment. Food was luke-warm and just a waste of money for $20.

They had run out of 2 meat dishes which we wanted and said we would wait.

They asked the chef how long who said 7 minutes. The lady chef then went out the back with her phone for a break.

We waited.

Then she came back after 7 minutes and started to cook again. Very bad service.

The male cook was not cooking much so we left without having one of the foods.

The old lady chef needs to understand that when they have a busy nite she needs to work harder or as is said she needs to pull her finger out or retire.

The servers were running back and forth to replace carrots broccoli etc. They should have a runner doing this. Better coordination would help.

I have only had Katsubi from the Albany Mall in the past which was good, so a couple of weeks ago I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and teriyaki chicken bowl on Uber eats. Most of this was thrown down the sink as the chicken was all small bits and hard as though it had been sitting for hours in a warming tray drying up, or the leftovers for the day. At 3am the following morning I was very sick for the next few hours with food poisoning, so luckily I had only eaten a little of the meal.
