We just moved to Browns Bay from Singapore, so we've been exploring different parts of the little village, but we got stuck the moment we found La Tropezienne. In Singapore we used to go to two morning spots daily: Toastbox (for tea) and Tiong Bahru Bakery (for croissants and sandwiches), and we feel like in La Tropezienne we've found the perfect meeting room that melds the best of both.
This absolute gem of a french eatery is run by maestros and serves up the most divinely lush selection of desserts, pastries, breads, hot dishes, and sandwiches. There are three main cabinet sections, one with desserts and cakes and tarts and cookies, one with filling and toothsome sandwiches, one (this is my favourite) with plenty of wonderful dishes ranging from seafood gratin and creamy lemon chicken to kumara shepherd's pie and chicken vol au vent, and finally a page-long food menu offering a big breakfast and other deliciousness.
Everything we've had at this place has been decadent and delicious without breaking the bank, and the drinks menu is extensive and reasonable too. We recently got a raspberry tart for our daughter's birthday in school and her teachers told us this was their favourite bakery.

Read moreI have eaten here before however most of their dishes being Italian is pasta based it is a popular place a bit lije a train station so there is not personal interaction a bit like what is your order pay and take a number no smile ,it's those little details a person needs in order to feel you want to go back . I chose to have mushrooms on toast , it was not made with a sauce just plain mushrooms not my favorite as it can be dry to eat, I sat next to the wall and saw a cocroach touching my arm and ran across the wood I called the waiter who took it away ...it kinda put me off as to the cleanliness aspect in the kitchen , some of the tables we're not cleaned where I wanted to sit as I walked in, bits of food left on the table maybe not enough staff, It is indeed a busy place and maybe if you can look past these little things it will be OK however for me a cafe should be clean and have friendly interaction not just...
