Yaruki Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Hibiscus and Bays

Beware - you only get 1.5 hr window to eat there with a side order of bad service!

I made a booking for 6pm to catch up with a friend. After I sat down and ordered a drink and entree, apologising for my friend is running 10 mins late, I was told by the waitress: “...just to let you know we need your table back by 7.30, because "an hour and half is enough time to finish dinner". Barely time to eat dinner! We are in a restaurant not fast food chain! And when you are spending $$ for your dinner, you most certainly expect to ENJOY your meal and the surroundings, instead of just shovelling it in and rushing out.

I told her I wish I was informed about their policy on the time of booking! She said she will see if they can move us over to another table. They couldn't and at 7.30 sharp we were told by the chef we need to vacate the table immediately with a Thank you thank you, now here's the door" upon payment. Shocked and disappointed, we paid and will never return. Way to treat loyal customers!

We never even got our dessert because we were rushed out. If that's how you treat customers then we'll spend our money elsewhere.

We have been going to this restaurant for few years now and always found it charming and great service without this issue before. All has changed, their attitude is appalling....

Such a disappointing meal. BEEF Sukiyaki soup came with a very small bowl of rice and literally three tiny pieces of beef as shown in the photo. When asked about it they told us it’s actually mainly only vegetable soup even though the menu clearly says beef! We asked if they could add more and they said no. Not the first time we have order beef sukiyaki and it’s never served like this, other restaurants give a good amount of beef. Chicken Sushi was average 8 small pieces, bento box was below average. Have paid less for more food and better flavours at other places. Nothing great. Also ordered edamame beans. Easily worse bento ever. They obviously missed our order because we waited for 45 minutes for two bento when people around us arrived later and ate first. Would have been ok if food was great. Wasn’t. Tempura was great. Chicken was burnt, edamame bean were cold. Sushi was nice. Sushime was ok. Salad was terrible. Chop lettuce with a little something pickled on top. A rabbit wouldn’t eat it. For $93 include a wine and beer served in a warm glass, I think we can do better. Katsubi up the road million times better. Oh and when the waitress went to ask about our meal the ‘head chef’ gave her a look straight out of shogun and she scurried away and told us it was coming. Hence the four stars...
