I must say it was an incredibly disappointing experience. From the moment we placed our order to the quality of the food, everything fell short of our expectations.
First and foremost, the portion sizes were shockingly small. My friend and I ordered 2 lamb skewers, 1 BBQ eggplant, 1 spicy chicken, and the highly recommended big plate chicken with hand-pulled noodles. To our dismay, the BBQ eggplant was not only minuscule, resembling the size of an actual egg, but they served us only half of it while charging a hefty $8.8. It was an absolute joke. When we tried to address this issue with the waiter, things took a turn for the worse.
The waiter, rather than listening to our concerns, took my chopsticks and condescendingly attempted to demonstrate how to eat the eggplant. As grown men who are familiar with basic table manners, we found this act of patronization incredibly disrespectful. To add insult to injury, his response to our disappointment was utterly baffling. He claimed that the small eggplant size was due to it being sourced from New Zealand. Excuse me, but what does the origin of the eggplant have to do with serving such a meager portion?
Moving on to the hand-pulled noodles, they were a complete letdown. The noodles were excessively soggy, lacking the desired texture and flavor that we had come to expect from this dish. It was a stark contrast to the previous occasions when we had enjoyed well-executed hand-pulled noodles at this restaurant.
As for the big plate chicken, while the taste was passable, we were dismayed to find that the majority of the meat consisted of chicken breast. This was quite disappointing considering that the name of the dish explicitly mentioned "big plate chicken," which traditionally includes a variety of chicken cuts, including tender and flavorful thigh meat.
Overall, our experience at this place was nothing short of a disaster. The small portion sizes, the disrespectful behavior of the waiter, the soggy hand-pulled noodles, and the disappointment of the chicken dish have left us with no...
Read moreWe visited Burswood BBQ Café on 3rd January 2025, around 8:30 pm and ordered spicy chicken, five lamb skewers, four chicken skewers, and chives. Despite patiently waiting 35 minutes, we only received the spicy chicken first—usually served last—while others who arrived later were served promptly.
When I inquired about our missing order, one of the male waiter at the counter realized it had been forgotten. He asked if we wanted to cancel, and I agreed. Yet 10 minutes later, he brought the skewers anyway, even after I had canceled, leaving with a sour expression when reminded.
During payment, same male waiter had the audacity to tell me not to "do this again," as if it were my fault. When I calmly addressed this, he escalated the situation, smashing a pen on the ground and yelling at us in front of 20+ diners.
While I appreciate the food, this kind of unprofessional and rude service is unacceptable. I regret the experience and hope the management takes customer service seriously before further...
Read moreWe tried this resto for the first time from seeing lots of good reviews. We came on a Friday night and immediately saw it was packed so we anticipated the long wait. We ordered for takeaway so we had to wait. We didn't mind since we were amused by their big tv screen showing chinese cuisine cooking and was smelling the bbq which made us excited for our order. After more than 30mins, we received a small takeaway container which was half-filled. The lady said that's our order. So I asked "That's all of it??" And she said yes. We were more than disappointed by how little the food was. We were actually annoyed. We didn't expect the serving to be sooooo little and even asked the person in the cashier again if that was all of it. They confirmed it was all of it. We ordered a lot and it should be more than enough for 2pax but we were so dismayed by the amount of serving they gave. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS RESTO...
