The place has gone through a full revamp and is no longer an embarrassing place to dine. The layout and decor has had a major upgrade. The menu is a lot more appealing and the food tastes fresher. Well done!
Less one star due to blatantly rude service. I’m of Asian decent but speak English due to being born in NZ and was treated differently. I went in, told the cashier name and booking (booked under Chinese friends name). She refused to give me the table as I was unable to “prove” it was my booking. She asked for the phone number connected to booking, I was carrying my son and struggling to get phone out so I asked “how many parties of 15 do you have tonight?” She answered “two”. I then asked “ok so how many do you have for 5.30pm?” She said “one” so I replied “so that’s obviously my table then”. She still refused to give us the table. My friend then arrived who speaks Chinese, all she did was say a surname and we were seated, she was not questioned further. During this exchange, one of the managers very loudly (thinking that I don’t understand Cantonese) repeatedly said “I find the English language so ugly to listen to!!!” Need I remind him that he has migrated to an English speaking country? Why am I receiving racism from my own people in my country where I’m speaking my native tongue? Even my father looked over at me after the third time, with eyes saying “what the f*?!” Say it once, fine, but three times? We have been loyal customers and will continue to be but please, you don’t treat people like that, regardless of...
Read moreWorst yumcha experience ever in Auckland honestly!!!!! The taste of the food and the service do not matched the price. The ingredients they use tasted very dodgy. Also you literally have to fight for food or you get nothing lol.
No matter at what time, don’t come if you only have two people, you will be sitting in a big table and share with other people. We arrived just before 11 am, pretty much all the seat are available but we can only share a table with strangers. After sitting there for half an hour, the whole dinning hall was full of people but they still have very little dishes on their cart every time. So often there was nothing left on the cart when it finally arrived to us. The dishes are the same every time, the one time we got a full cart coming, they only had the stuff i had before. So yeah we only had 4 dishes in total, and half of the time we were just starving and waiting, with dirty dishes in front of us. The last cart arrived at our table only had one dish so the people at our table literally grabbed it themselves cuz they didn’t get anything as well. Then, we decided to go somewhere else to eat, I complained about this to the manager and they just ignored me lol. Good luck keeping this...
Read moreHad yum char here with my parents. We have tried Mr lobster before and this is kind of like their side branch. Most of the food here is actually great despite the reviews which mainly talked about the services here which I will delve into that topic later.
The pink prawn crepe thing is the highlight of the meal. I think out of all the yum char places I've been, they do this dish best here. It was soft outside and flaky and crispy inside and at the same time, it didn't feel too oily, so it will feel like you can have more of it. Their har gao is pretty good too here, a long with the char siu steam crepe. The char siu bao and the rest of the other dishes are average but still tasted good.
Services here are mixed, the staff are attentive when comes to refilling teapot with hot water and clearing out dirty dishes. However they are slow in pushing out food cart and delivering food, so with their questionable 1 hour time limit a long with this restriction, you might not be able to eat everything you want. So best to pre order from one of the waiting staffs.
Overall, food is good just food comes out slow. I would not let the 1 star bad service review get to you if you...
