BBQ Duck Palace — Restaurant in Howick

My husband and I have passed this gem of a restaurant almost every single day of our lives but never gone in, and so the other night we finally plucked up the courage to go inside, and boy am I glad that we did. The little restaurant is so impeccably clean that you could eat right off of the floor. The front staff at the counter were extremely friendly and were bilingual which really helped my husband and I as there was no language barrier. They have an excellent menu and so many dishes to choose from that we were spoilt for choice. There is a view right through to the kitchen which looked so hygienic and clean. We were offered a beautiful table to sit at immediately upon arrival. The food in our opinion is the best Asian food that we have eaten in the whole of Auckland, and that is saying a lot as we have eaten at many an Asian restaurant. Our food was extremely fresh and beautifully presented. The ratio of meat to vegetable was absolute perfection and the taste was incredible. There was not one vegetable that did not retain moisture yet have a crunch to the outside. My 9 month old baby even devoured up her food as it was that tasty. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough and we will definitely be coming back here again soon....

Place was a complete disaster. I walked in and it was bitterly cold. I had to go out to the car and get my jacket. I ordered vegetable spring rolls to my disappointment. They were the spring rolls that you can purchase at Woolworths the cocktail spring rolls and I ordered duck and rice And the duck was microwaved and extremely dry and I ordered the seafood soup which as far as I’m concerned had no seafood other than fish Cake and Imitation seafood stick And for the first time in my life, I had to add salt at a Chinese restaurant. The one thing that was incredibly disappointing was that you could not pay with credit card. They only accepted cash that was not visible when I went into the restaurant or was I made aware of this before sitting down? I ordered half duck for takeaway, and the food came out too cold. So I told the owner that I dont want the cold duck. It is supposed to be hot as it is served in a restaurant. He then told me the duck been cooked 2 hours ago, and he cant just leave it cooked until it burns. It is the restaurant problem, not mine, I dont care, as I pay for hot instantly served food at a restaurant, not for some cold long ago cooked food. I asked to change for another hot food, not the duck, then the owner and the other lady staff said I can’t, and they cant do anything with that duck, except to put it in a microwave to warm it up???? If I wanted some microwave food, I just do it at home, why should I have to drive a long way to get expensive food which is even colder than ice? Very very...
