Groove Espresso — Restaurant in Invercargill City

If I could give 6 stars I would! Stellar service by kind and funny people. Got piccolos. The coffee is good and from their own roasting company, which is great (yay local). Also got the most addictive toastie ever, the 3 pickles one. I need to try and reproduce them at home: we liked it so much that we took a second one the first day and made a small detour to come back the next day to get another one. We also tried the chocolate brownie and the cheese scone, and both were great. If I'd live closeby, I'd be there every day. Only a few places to sit down outside, but they managed to make it cosy. Also, make sure you go visit the park in front, as it is beautiful and free. You can even see tuataras...

An absolute gem of a place! The welcome from the friendly couple running this true find for real coffee lovers begins this experience. The coffee, either the personally made espresso or the batch filter, kept hot in a thermos, are both excellent. I’ve been twice, as I’m a big believer in second chances. Too hot, too bitter, poorly presented. Seems they’ve become so popular that they are more interested in fast coffee than good coffee. I can squeeze a better shot out of my Sunbeam coffee machine with supermarket beans at home. Maybe I got unlucky? Maybe it’s not my style. Either way, I won’t be back. Sadly.
