Stafford Road Wine Bar — Restaurant in Kaipātiki

We came in for a birthday dinner and drinks. The birthday girl is an avid wine and cocktails kinda gal and these generally didn't disappoint. The service was attentive if a bit rushed but everyone was friendly. No one really seemed to have much to say about the wines which was disappointing for a wine bar. The food was our major down vote though. The mushroom risotto was like a buttered long grain rice with sauteed mushrooms thrown on top. The pork belly bao had what seemed like a store bought gooey sauce on them and little greenery or topings (pork belly was nice but ruined by the sauce). The servings of bread with the dips were all too small for the amount of dip provided and extra orders of bread were more of the too small portions. Really disappointed, we were keen to settle in trying some nice wine and food. My partner likes a sweeter riesling, after seeing they only sell riesling by the bottle we asked the server if she could suggest a sweeter white by the glass, she looked uncomfortable instantly. "Oh don't think we really have a sweeter white by the glass". Thinking our server might have been learning, when a different waitress came out we asked the same question. "Oh no we don't really have a sweeter white by the glass, maybe have a rose?" How can a wine bar have staff that clearly lacked knowledge of wine? Or unable to suggest a white at all? Why not provide/suggest a taster? So many ways this could have been better. We left after a cider and beer and...

To be honest I think this place is great. It would be 4 star at least if it was not for one blond waitress who ackted just stupid. She run after me and my friends when we were leaving shouting "did you settle the bill?". Additionaly, she was a bit aggresive in behaviour and did not even appologize.

To make thing clear me did ask for the bill and even left a nice tip for the stuff who served us as the blond waitress forgot about our order. The rest of the stuff managed to fill the gap.

Afterwards, we felt a bit like thiefs with everyone looking at us. Thats unpleasent to to say the least.
