Muffin Break — Restaurant in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

I work in the Mall and used to be a very regular customer.I have 2 very bad experiences with both the owners.

In the first instance a couple of weeks ago at closing time I just went to get a muffin and they were selling 4 muffins for $12 and I just said that I don’t need 4 and just need one.

I gave them $3 in cash but they asked for $4 for 1muffin and I paid them $4 but I questioned them that u have a big sign advertising 4 for $12 but who can eat 4 muffins and I suggested that u should mention that 1 is for $ 4 and it was a friendly suggestion but they were very rude to me and the reply was that how they are going to run their business if they charge $3 for it. It was a strange reply.

In the second instance today I ordered a cheese toastie and requested that I don’t eat onions because they always put onions in it as it is a cheese & Onion toastie and if they can substitute onion with something else to which they agreed and charged me the normal $7.50 for it.

They made one toastie and put lettuce and avocado and served it and later when I complained that there was no cheese in it and the reply was even more shocking and the owner replied that you come to our Shop on your free will and I should stop complaining about the food and this was the best they could do for me.

Why did they agree to make a cheese sandwich with some other veggie. They are increasingly becoming rude and I miss the previous owners who were very respectful and very friendly.

I believe that they are very rude with their employees as well because I see new staff every 3-4 weeks.I called the office of the company foodco and complained to the receptionist and she promised to bring it to the notice of the Manager.

They don’t value the customer. Truely...

I redeemed my birthday muffin at 6pm Saturday 2nd November, hardly anyone left in the mall let alone near muffin break, i only saw customers in the Wearhouse.. anyway i was told to go sit down and wait for our coffee and muffins to be delivered. The staff came back to me 10mins later, she expressed there was only one muffin left and that the customer before me had bought it. I didn’t see anyone purchasing before and it took some time for her to even take MY ORDER. i still now believe she was lying and forgot about us considering the wait time. As I approached the counter to choose a different muffin, some new customers were receiving bags of muffins .. I noticed that only 2 muffins where missing from the small selection left (end of day stuff) The display self was only missing my muffin and the mixed berry muffin WHAT A JOKE.. .. i was so guttered that she lied and gave mu order to someone else ..it sad how pathetic this seems but it really did ruined my day and outlook of the staff here ..

Once we finally got our coffee (20mins in total) we received our flat whites to have the beans tastk g burnt and the temperature was so hot that these weren’t enjoyable or DRINKABLE... I will not be shopping at the sylvia park muffin break.

Even Though I’m a long time loyal customer of 5 years !!! Who buys...

My family would stop here now and message to relax from shopping but never again. On three separate occasions of going there for food are drink, their pies were always cold in its center. How can I say always? Well we would order three pies and two were frozen cold. Not luke warm, or cool, not even chill, frozen ice cold. Now this is because they microwave the pies, and of course a microwave is not going to fully heat something that's been kept refrigerated or stored for god knows how long. When it happened the first time I was okay with it and asked them to reheat the pies. Second visit it happened again and my impression of this cafe began to change. Third visit I should have learnt my lesson but I figured I should give them a chance. No, I was wrong. They didn't change. I got furious because how can you make the same mistake three times? And then tell the customer they shouldn't order pies. Oh and no apology either when they gave the pies back, just told again to order something else from their factory machine made menu.
