Lick this — Restaurant in Napier

Friendly staff greeted me when I arrived, likely well-trained in hospitality as a result of dealing with kids/teenagers frequently due to the business being right next to a skate park.

The number of flavours, roughly 40 or so from memory, was a delight to see. I struggled to know which ones to pick but was kindly helped by the server, who informed me that I could purchase a 3-scoop cup of ice cream with a different flavor for each.

The facilities were tidy and clean, while the display of old ice cream spoons and gadgets provided a nice view while we ate.

Overall I'd give Lick This a 4.9 (minus 0.1 points for the fact that I can't try every flavor in one sitting) but since that's not possible, I'll have to round up to a 5....

We visited Lick This, known as one of the most famous ice cream shops in Napier, because our kids wanted to try gelato. The shop offered a wide variety of flavors, including pineapple and chocolate.

When I ordered, I felt the ice cream didn’t seem like the traditional gelato I was familiar with—soft and chewy—so I asked the staff. They assured me it was all gelato, though it seemed a bit different from what I’ve had before.

Nonetheless, the flavors were delicious, and the shop was bustling with customers, which speaks to its popularity. Parking is available along the street, so it’s quite convenient.

It's alright. The staff is clearly nice and welcoming and there is a wide range of flavors. However, flavors are weird combinations rather than classic good one... I would have loved reading a label with written Vanilla or Pistacchio or any other normal ones... for how much it is good trying different combinations, but here they are too much on kiwi taste. Which is understandable, being kiwi people the main customers, but I cannot give more than three stars for this. I must say, though, even though flavors are weird and you need to spend too much time trying to understand what they are, ice-cream is clearly well-done and I want to praise them for this, and for the great staff and style you find...
