Read moreVinci’s Pizza in Napier is a must-visit for any pizza lover. I ordered three slices of pepperoni and each one was absolutely spot on.
The pepperoni was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of crisp on the edges. There was a generous layer of melted cheese that pulled perfectly with every bite, and the tomato sauce underneath added a nice balance of sweetness and tang. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and well chosen.
The crust was excellent. It was thin in the center and had a nice crunch around the edges. It was strong enough to hold the toppings without falling apart, and soft enough to enjoy every bite without it feeling too heavy. It had that classic New York-style feel, which is hard to find done well in New Zealand.
The vibe inside Vinci’s was relaxed and welcoming. The staff were friendly and got my slices out quickly, even though there were quite a few people in line. It felt like a place where locals and visitors alike come for a guaranteed good feed.
If you're ever in Napier and craving quality pizza, Vinci’s is a fantastic choice. Those three slices of pepperoni were some of the best I’ve had in the country and I’ll definitely be coming...
Read moreI’ve eaten a lot of pizza here, perhaps if I had made a review a year ago it might’ve been 5 stars, however here we are.
Unfortunately the pizza consistency and quality has dropped way off. The amount of char is over the top.
A small amount of char on a good wood fired pizza is something I always welcome, an approximation on this on a non wood fired pizza would be equally welcome.
However what we received recently was approaching disgusting, especially considering what we have enjoyed on many occasions in the past.
Furthermore, the crust size is now super inconsistent meaning there’s less coverage for pizza topping, but worse, the black charred crust means up to a 1/3 on some slices is inedible char.
Sorry Vinci’s but this is no longer good, nor even half decent pizza.
PS: Photos are of pieces warmed up briefly at 90C (not burnt at home, that’s the way we received the pizza) in the oven as we are 20 minutes out of town.
PSS: The pizza is bad but the staff have always been super chill and the...
