Review as left on first table.
Food ordered Wontons, Pork & Pawn Dumplings, Roasted Duck, Chef Special Sizzling beef & Chicken fried rice. I don't have anything bad or outstanding to say about the service. It was perfectly middle of the road. The restaurant was well decorated, my only complaint that on a normal 20 degree day it was much hotter inside.
The starters, the wontons were crispy and well received. The dumplings were less desirable. The filling resembled more of a taste and texture to a hellers pork sausage, with peas and corn mixed in. I would not order these again.
The mains. The duck, was absolutely delicious. This was the saving grace of the meal, roasted perfectly. Good taste, good hoisin sauce to accompany. It's a shame they do not offer duck pancakes. The chef special was not particularly amazing, the beef was cooked well, and tasted like it was good quality however the sauce just tasted like any old BBQ sauce out of a bottle. The chicken fried rice was again, eatable but not particularly amazing.
Here's where the review takes a turn. Before we came in, I called to ask about BYO, they said they provide this service. I did not at this point explicitly tell them I was under FT. I've booked more than a few FT but never have I seen an exclusory for BYO. This was my fault for not reading this, however in previous FT experiences if my discount was not applicable, I’ve been told in person so as not to ruin this. E.g., that food or service is not counted under the first table discount. So, when I went to pay my bill I was startled at the price. I offered my code; this is where I was told I’ve voided it due to BYO. So, they knew my table was FT, they knew I had bought BYO. However never took the time to mention, if I open that the discount would be void. When I expressed my annoyance at that. I was told if I’m not happy to contact FT and they will refund me. This leads me to believe they know about this and it's not the first time they've doubled punched the ticket.
As the food, bar the duck was nothing special and the service was middle of the road. I wouldn't recommend this place under FT or...
Read moreMy husband and I tried the dim sum for lunch. -The deep fried pork dumplings came with mayonnaise and sweet and sour sauce, which I have no idea why ❓ -Steamed pork dumplings did not taste fresh and wasn't cooked on the spot, tasted like it had been sitting there for a while and there was no juiciness to it 👎 -Steamed rice in lotus leaf was not fresh as the top was hardened 😔 -Prawn dumplings tasted frozen!! 🦐 I cannot say I loved any of the dishes, they were average at best.
The only Miracle of this restaurant is that it somehow still has a high rating on Google reviews. It tastes very unauthentic and not fresh. They do not make alot of their food in the restaurant but use some frozen foods and just steam it.
The only thing that saved the restaurant was the Manager Ravinder who was very understanding, kind, and honest, which I really appreciated. This restaurant is not doing justice to real...
Read moreI have been here a few times. I love Asian food and I have attempted to have the cantonese duck here 3 times. The first time, the duck was delicious. (Be warned there is a very annoying robot that delivers your food to the table and you have to get up from your seat and pickbit up. Not my thing). The second time they ordered me the wrong duck. I waited so long that I Just had the duck they had already prepared (more expensive). It was done in a sweet sauce. It was ok at best but too sweet for me. The 3rd time I ordered the Cantonese duck and rice for lunch. The duck was deep fried to the point there was zero flavour and unrecognisable. When I went to pay the bill, the Indian girl asked me how my meal was to which I explained my disappointment. I received no acknowledgement at all but was asked if I wanted a receipt. I will not be going...
