What a wonderful team of fantastic people with an obvious passion for delivering not just a great plate of food but an experience that sits in your heart as well as your deliciously full belly. Recommended by a friend, three of us stopped in to finish off a day trip for Mum's 86th birthday and absolutely STOKED that we did. We ordered the St Louis ribs, Smoked+Fried Chicken Wings, and Fries*. Sorry, you'll see no pics of our ribs, we ripped into them like a frat party on taco night! Super smokey, melt in ya mouth, tasty as hell ribs - it didn't take us long to put down the knives n forks. The chicken was the best we've had smokey flavour-wise, the crispy skin and sauce added to the magic. \We can't leave out the fries, coz they sure didn't! We were delighted that they showed the same love with the fries as they did the other dishes, geez they were top notch - hot, crunchy, NOT shoe string, NOT wedges, non-oily paprika salted goodness on the side - *Every other restaurant please take note.

On hearing it was Mum's birthday, they surprised her (AND US!) with an incredibly special lava pavlova + fruit dish, candle n' all, that just blew us away, especially Mum, and slam-dunk confirmed us as BLB customers for life. Thank you so very much, you were the icing on the cake of a fabulous day. See you cooks on fire...

Been meaning to visit this place since the day we watch the finale of Cooks on Fire. Then finally went out for dinner on a Friday night at the Black Label restaurant and it did not disappoint. Hubby booked for reservation on that morning and glad there were plenty of spaces available. Also, noticed a few people who came to the restaurant that evening and were able to be accomodated. The place was quite spacious, with an indoor to oudoor flow. Staff were friendly and welcoming and made sure our glasses were never empty if we needed a few more drinks.

We had the potato skin as appetiser and it was very delicious, a bit pricey than your regular wedges or fries but it’s something good to try. We also had the BBQ platter and it was very tasty; the bbq were juicy and not dry at all. Loved the ribs and brisket especially and it paired well with the pickles on side. Nonetheless, we finished off with a great dessert, the pumpkin pie (the thoughts of it just makes me drool)! How I wish they can sell a whole pie to be taken home or for some occasions 😅. This is what Rotorua needed. Good honest Barbecue. We went as a family of 5- 2 kids in tow. Shaun and Alia have done an awesome job on turning the place into a family friendly environment. They are super knowledgeable and happy to chat. We got the share platter and a couple of sides which was easily enough plus a doggy bag to take home. GM Mikey is a top bloke and leads his team professionally and with a good dose of banter to boot. Drinks and cocktails on point. Good barbecue is a labour of love and you can taste it here.(and see it too with the massive bbq pit out the back slowly wafting it's smokey goodness over to you while you watch!) Hard to pick a favourite as we all had our own.Highlight for us on the sides was the crispy potato skins😋 Is it worth it. Absolutely. Also open for lunch and bottomless filter coffee so you can easily go there for a slice of pumpkin pie or wings and chill for the afternoon without feeling like you have to go for a big feed or a special occasion.
