I had a very very frustrating experience with the service I received from one of your waitstaff during my visit this morning.

I ordered a “not too hot” latte, as I am unable to drink excessively hot beverages due to medical reasons following surgery. I explicitly confirmed this requirement twice at the counter. However, when I received the latte from a waitress with very blonde hair and a fairly tall stature, I immediately noticed that the coffee was, in fact, burning hot.

I politely informed the server of this issue, but her response was shockingly dismissive. She suggested, “Can you wait until it cools down?” and shrugged. This response alone was unprofessional and insensitive. However, when I asked her to check with the barista, she ignored my request and proceeded to serve other tables in the vicinity. I had to call her over again, and even then, she reiterated the same dismissive comment, adding, “That’s just how our barista makes coffee.”

If your baristas are unable to adjust the temperature of a beverage as requested, I believe this highlights a serious training issue. For instance, how would they prepare a child’s hot chocolate? It is baffling and unacceptable that such a basic request could not be accommodated. The server’s attitude further exacerbated the issue, as her dismissive and unprofessional behavior left me feeling disrespected and insulted.

If your team cannot fulfill a reasonable customer request, this should be communicated at the point of order. Shrugging off a customer’s concern at the table or suggesting they “wait until it cools down” is not an appropriate solution. This experience was not only disappointing but also highly insulting.

While I appreciated the quality of the food, this encounter has significantly...

I’ve been a customer at this cafe before and had really good experience but today I was a little taken back by the extremely poor service and functionality across the entire team. It was a little busy when we arrived but also checked about the wait time. We waited 40 minutes for three takeaway drinks and a pastry, as a hospo worker myself I get that things can get hectic it would’ve but it would have been nice to have been told about the very long wait time. I went up to the till to check on the pastry and was completely ignored and walked past by three staff members. Then the manager spoke to me with a confronting tone I was told that it had been sitting on the counter for a long time and that I should have been waiting for it. We had been sitting within a couple meters of the coffee machine to make sure we didn’t miss anything when it came out. There was no accountability held by the manager or staff, I was simply just told that I should’ve been more aware. I am very disappointed by the overall service and hope that some improvements and better systems are put in place so that the overall flow of service is consistent...

The food here is awesome and has lots of options. Recommend berry granola muesli, it’s very healthy and delicious, and Baku steak sandwich, also my friend likes the snapper fillet. However, the two islander ladies’ attitude at the counter towards us are damn rude. We had redirected to the cafe counter for choosing drinks and lady there pretended ignored when we ask “if we can order now” and showed a contemptuous smile when she heard that we want to order at there. and the other one heard our pronunciation was not 100% correct for the dish’s name, she flashed a look of contempt, and even when we back to her to order and check the price, the whole process making us feel uncomfortable and rude. And somehow the waiter/waitress kept asking if they can take the plates away while we are still eating and waiting for food. It’s easy to just tell us nicely that we should order at the other counter and correct our pronunciation without rude attitudes. We are traveling here for chilling and relaxing, but they made our moods worse🙃hope they manage the working...

Cafe Baku, tucked away as a hidden gem in the heart of Taupo, is a culinary haven serving up an array of seriously delectable dishes. On my recent visit, I opted for the Works Breakfast, and it was nothing short of a feast – a generous heap of eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, and grilled tomatoes that provided the perfect kickstart to my day. What sets Cafe Baku apart extends beyond its mouthwatering menu; it’s the delightful atmosphere and the warm, attentive staff that make the experience truly memorable. The team exudes friendliness, and their attentiveness adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining affair. Wholeheartedly, I urge anyone in search of a sublime dining experience in Taupo to consider Cafe Baku. It’s not just about the food; it’s an exploration of flavors in a welcoming haven. My recommendation stands strong – Cafe Baku is a must-visit, a hidden culinary treasure waiting to be discovered by those who appreciate fantastic meals in an inviting setting. Downside: the cakes were not fresh at all. Do not try them.

I didn't have much time to grab anything from main menu. Just wanted to grab something quick. I was attracted towards their cabinet food more and so happy to see that they had so many vegetarian options for a vegetarian like me. Exactly i knew, I have to get something from here. So I tried the vege scroll. Even though it was busy, I got my food within 5 minutes. Great service. Also the scroll had a really good combination of vegetables in it. Did go really well with each other. But somewhere I felt, there could be some more flavours added to the mixture to make it taste more nicer. It was bit bland. Not too much though. Just a suggestion. Overall, I enjoyed it. Worth the value for money. I will definitely come back to give another try 😊
