What a shameful display of behaviour I just witnessed as I waited for my takeaway coffee! The man on the coffee machine was very stressed and barely maintaining his composure - the way he spoke to one of his staff as though she could barely understand basic English was disgraceful. As for the other server, her attitude was appalling - when coffees were called to be taken out to tables she ignored it and remained on the computer behind the counter, when they were called again she made a very sour face and reluctantly tore herself away from the computer and took them out. When the man on the coffee machine had had to make the second call he was visibly enraged at her lack of responsiveness. The whole thing was very unpleasant to witness. There were a few people waiting for takeaways and from the looks we were exchanging with each other I can say we all felt uncomfortable watching the situation in front of us. I understand things can get stressful working in a cafe but there is no excuse for that kind of behaviour. I felt really sorry for the poor lady who was trying to do her best but just looked so unsure of what was going on. I will not come back. I cannot support a place that treats their staff like this, and provides such a toxic workplace. I couldn't help but think of how that one poor lady must feel at the end of a day working in that awful environment. The "bad attitude" lady should find herself a new job because it is very apparent she does not want to be working here. As for the man behind the coffee machine - he needs to find a way to manage his stress and maybe undertake some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCheese scones (NZ$6) are everywhere in Wellington. While I didnāt have time to compare them on a two-night trip, I can tell you the one at Cafe Cloud was a beauty. Made on a combination of non-greasy cheeses, it was light and airy with good savoury bite. Located on the Victoria University edge of town, this busy little hole-in-the-wall has some seating in the rear where you can enjoy it gently grilled with a stick of Mainland mNZ salted butter. Coffee as a cinnamon-topped cappuccino (NZ$4) was an interesting twist. Not sure Iād ask for it again, but I enjoyed trying the wares of our second...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBarista here are extremely friendly. Although it was crowded when I went there, I was first treated with a smile and greetings. They processed my takeaway order swiftly despite the early afternoon rush. The latte tasted well, too. Planning to grab a coffee in here every afternoon, if and whenever I can. Barista was kind enough to make a way for me to take some pictures of the...
