Concorde Cafe — Restaurant in North Island

This bakery was a gem many years ago. Service was top notch and the quality of food was exceptional. Was particularly busy as well.

However, in recent months, the quality has gone down as well as customer service, with the guy at the counter particularly rude. I asked for a box of cronuts and asked how many could fit in the box. The guy rolled his eyes and snapped and asked how many I wanted. Didn't want to answer my question. Just said "HOW MANY". Was it busy? No. I wanted to fill up the box, but obviously, the guy didn't want to be there or work there. Didn't have a choice to go elsewhere as they took my payment.

Recently, decided to go back for a box of cronuts. Same attitude. I asked for six and couldn't even remember how many I ordered in the space of 5 seconds as he was too occupied talking. The cronuts? Cold, undercooked dough and no filling. Cold and stodgy and probably has been in the fridge for a while. These were burnt, par-fried, old, cold bricks. Also, the inclusion of long hair which wasn't a great look at a shared lunch. All 6 went in the bin. Waste of money.

Won't be back. Cafes and bakeries need to focus on one or the other - Exceptional customer service or the quality and taste needs to be above average. Unfortunately, neither of these were met.

Excellent quality, service, price and venue! Perfect for a weekday lunch and always a go-to for my grandmother and I, who has been coming here for 30 years. Chicken and corn soup is to die for with their bread, best Tuesday hot meal (and you get a bit more too when you eat in!) their large and small sausages are great, and their steak and cheese pie is my favourite. Their pork rolls are fantastic, as are their pate rolls, and their sweet treats always keep me going through the afternoon. Even though I’m always trying the new options around the Lambton and Terrace districts, I keep coming back here for more. Overall, probably my favourite cafe / bakery / patisserie...

Excellent food, a great variety. A huge selection of Filled Baggettes which are the best I've had in many years. Longer than most as well as far cheaper than most places.

Excellent pies with beautiful crust and nice filling, and great variety. Nicely priced.

Beautiful raspberry donuts that literally melt in your mouth. Nice custard squares.

Nice tea and coffee. Extremely busy place with some of the best prices in Wellington CBD.

The staff are very friendly welcoming and helpful.

It seems to be the place to go for Wellingtons Public Servants.
