Denny's Porirua — Restaurant in North Island

Mixed review...we ordered 3 Earl Grey teas, and an English Breakfast tea. 3 Earl Grey teas come out with 1 milk jug. About 10 minutes later, my English Breakfast tea comes out with no milk. So I ask for some milk...it didn't come, so I ask a different waitress, I get it this time yay! We ordered 4 entrees to share. They arrive in due course, I ask the waitress to please put in the middle of the table as we are sharing. She places a plate in front of my adult niece, my niece picks it up and places it in the middle of the table. The second plate is placed in front of my niece again. Again my niece moves it to the middle of the table. The third plate is placed in front of my niece, friggin ell'!!! When my niece goes to move it, she lets it go immediately, the friggin plate is hot as!!! Meanwhile the lazy as waitress proceeds to place the last plate in front of me. I tell you the service is TERRIBLE!!! Also there is not one bit of eye contact from this waitress. 3 out of 4 dishes are cooked very well... Crumbed Squid, Curly Fries with Aoli, and Onion Rings. Our 4th dish was Garlic Bread. I have never eaten soft as bread with garlic, it was not good...we did not finish this. I can't imagine going back, all I can think of when somebody mentions Denny's, is the terrible service. Doesn't matter how good your food is, the terrible service doesn't encourage one to dine there again. I really do hope they can improve.

Recent visit, January 2024 This is the first time I have been back to Denny's, since my last visit. We had a total different experience a fantastic experience actually. I ordered the Veggie Burger, which came with a good portion of crinkle cut chips. I loved the burger, with veggie pattie, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and mushroom. My friend ordered a Steak sandwich, which also came with a good portion of crinkle chips. She enjoyed it very much. We both ordered tea. Service was good, nice to have a smiling waitress. Well we hope to come back sooner rather than later. Well done Denny's!...

Disappointed ☹️ do not eat there!!!. Waiter 10 out of 10 for customer service although somehow the orders didn’t make it to the kitchen! Place wasn’t packed either. The dessert 🍨 came out before the mains! Sent that back! The potato and gravy was cold in the middle, the vegetables were tasteless and cold in parts. The whatever sauce was on the vegetables was horrible and runny - cheap version of cheee sauce . The T bone steak was the only pleasant part of my meal as it was cooking on a hot plate in front of me! Daughters kids bolognaise comes out with my meal but the other daughter ordered the same plus 2 side of fries and a potato and gravy that totally got missed and lost! Asked a few times where this was…We finished eating and still nothing so one daughter had nothing! Ended up getting the rest take away! I was given a melted steak knife which had a sharp pointy bit that cut into my skin! The kids sundae finally arrived and was full of whipped cream more than anything! Horrible ! Asked for manager and he sends another staff member. She listened and seemed sympathetic and said she would not charge for our meals - so here’s me thinking just the drinks and side dishes yet that wasn’t the case at all! Still spent $57 on one of the worse dining experiences I’ve ever had! The manager walked right past us and still didn’t bother coming over to have a chat! I will never go there again food was horrible, the service was terrible and the manager needs to take a course on how to be a manager ! The toilets weren’t clean and has put me off even more! Rip off prices, horrible food and service even worse! The personality of our waiter was the only thing we liked. Would not...

Hubby & I took our older kids and 2 year old out for brunch as a treat for their teachers only day. Kids chose Dennys. At first we were the only people there. When we walked in we were not greeted with a hello just a heavily pregnant woman asking if there were 4 or 5 of us. She directed us to our table and gave us our menus she gave our kids one menu to share which if your parent you know thats a fight waiting to happen. So i grabbed another one. We were not offered any water or drinks to begin with. The same woman came back to our table, said nothing just stood with her paper and pen. So we ordered. She never said a word to us or our children even when we acknowledged her and we all said thank you. She came back with our orders and popped them on the table then left. When we finished we helped her out by taking the dishes towards her working station in which she replied “thank you” and we replied your welcome. The food was eatable but considering the price it did not match - way too expensive. I got the eggs benny, hubby got big breakfast and the kids got the junior burger and fries which they loved. Overall, the serviced ruined the entire environment if there were atleast some smiles or cheerful greeting or even showing abit of excitment the environment could be lifted. My kids love it here, however we are just not big fans. Guttared since its the only family...
