Gengy's Restaurant — Restaurant in North Island

Pros: my cocktail was decent, and drink prices are way cheaper than average, although they seem to have a policy of only filling glasses 3/4 full. The fresh pancakes were delicious. Servers are friendly.

Cons: Hands down the least hygienic restaurant I've ever been to, not comforting in a place where huge bowls of raw meat are sitting around. Sticky floors, dirty surfaces, dirty bowls and silverware. Ice cream scoops just sitting in standing dirty water. The food is average at best and usually sub-average. I had a dinner roll that was ice cold as if it had just been taken from a fridge. The salad bar selection is pitiful.

If all you care is about is pure quantity over quality then go for it. You can still get a large and much nicer meal for less money at numerous other...

didn't even get a chance to try the food at gengy's as when we walked in the door, one of the staff members ran over and shut the door and flipped the sign to close, yet they had four full tables of customers and it was only 8pm. even thought they don't have a closing time. when i rung the following morning to discuss how we were not impressed the man i spoke to said it depends on how busy they were. and that they were most likely quiet. did not seem at all interested in what was being said. i was not impressed with customer service, as a result of this i will no longer attempeted to go to gengy's as they couldn't even walk over to us as we walked in and say i'm sorry but we are closing, that would have been better than having a door shut...

We have been coming to Gengys for years now as a large whānau. The food is always tasty and fresh, as it was this evening. Downfalls was the restaurant needs a thorough deep clean. The highchairs were filthy and we were one of the first diners in this evening. The highchair waiting in our reserved area was disgusting and the ones lined up weren't much better. The cleanest one still needed a wipe down. The toilet walls were pretty gross, as were the skirting boards. We also rang to book a month in advance and lucky we called this week to double check our confirmation, as our time slot we organised had been changed.
