From the moment we stepped into Silk Road in Rotorua, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere warm and inviting, the perfect setting for a relaxed evening out. What truly set the tone for the night, however, was the incredible service. The staff were not only friendly and attentive but went above and beyond to ensure our experience was smooth and enjoyable. A standout moment was when I realised I’d forgotten my ID and couldn't order a cocktail — without hesitation, the staff offered a delicious mocktail alternative that didn’t feel like a compromise at all. It was refreshing, beautifully presented, and a thoughtful touch that truly impressed me - just imagine if there was alcohol. As for the food — absolutely outstanding. Every dish we tried was packed with flavour, beautifully plated, and cooked to perfection. The Lamb Kofta was a standout: juicy, spiced just right, and filling. The pasta was another highlight — fresh, rich, and comforting, clearly made with care and quality ingredients. And the sirloin steak? Cooked exactly how we like it, medium rare, tender and full of flavour — one of the best we’ve had in a long time. I am so full and currently lying down as I have eaten a lot. Silk Road seamlessly combines exceptional food, thoughtful service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're a local or just passing through Rotorua to visit our sister like us, this gem of a restaurant deserves a spot at the top of your list. I’ll absolutely be back — and next time, with my ID in hand!

We had such a memorable dining experience at Silk Road in Rotorua. From the very beginning, the service stood out—the owner himself came out to greet us as we waited in the cold for the last member of our party to arrive. That warm gesture set the tone for the evening and truly made us feel welcome.

Inside, the atmosphere was cozy and elegant, blending modern comfort with touches of Middle Eastern charm. The menu was diverse and offered a delicious range of Indian, Italian, Mediterranean ect.-inspired dishes. Every plate that came to our table was beautifully presented and packed with flavor—especially the lamb koftas , which were tender, aromatic, and cooked to perfection.

The service remained attentive throughout the night without being intrusive. You could tell the staff genuinely cared about our experience.

This place is more than just a restaurant—it’s a warm, inviting space where hospitality and food are taken seriously. We’ll definitely be back, and we highly recommend Silk Road to anyone visiting Rotorua and looking for an authentic,...

What a great place to come and have great food with awesome service. In theory their food service style of tapas/platters from an all you can eat menue is a great way to taste all this restaurant has to offer. Given that I had a large group (pre-booked) come in the consistency of the platters reaching our tables in a timely manner started great one after the other but then after 8-10 other customers came in the service was slowing down leaving longer than expected wait times between platters. As we had children a few kids it was somewhat difficult to keep them entertained between meals. Ideally 2 extra staff 1 in the kitchen and 1 on the floor would have been the perfect recipe for a successful night for the Silk Rd team. All-in-all the ladies who served us were amazing hostesses and the chef gave us his/her all. The location is great, central cdb and the live entertainment across the rd was awesome As well. I would highly recommend coming here with your friends and family. Thank you again silk rd for a great night. We will definitely be back...
