The staff were very rude to my party. They were not flexible at all with their menu, and wouldn't budge even though it was clear what we were after - a small side of scrambled eggs to go with our meals. We would have happily paid an upcharge for their side item eggs (even though the menu does not indicate that this means fried and ONLY fried). They simply would not do it. When we stepped aside to rethink our order, this staff member appeared very annoyed. I thought we were doing them a favor by letting other customers go ahead and order rather than hold up the line. Then when we were waiting on our food, a couple came in and had a seat at a larger table near us. Another staff member immediately shoo'd them to a small table, telling them they could not sit there. There were plenty of open tables available, large and small - I was shocked at how cold the staff was....not even a "welcome" or "thanks for coming in today". Just "You can't sit there. Sit here, at a 2-seater." Wow. Then when our food arrived, they didn't bring any utensils or salt/pepper....I waited in line at the counter to ask for some, and the lady who took our order was very short with me, pointing me over to the server's station to get the items out of a plastic bin myself. When I went back to order dessert a few minutes later, she must have figured I needed something else (god forbid) because she practically rolled her eyes when I approached her. I was kind to them through it all and that warmth was never returned, not even with a smile. The whole experience was just an awful way to start the day, as I felt like a burden for coming in to give them my money. Definitely won't be returning or...

Came for breakfast over Easter, I was quite disappointed with the fact the other 4 people at my table received their food 25mins before I had received mine.

About 10mins into waiting for my food to arrive after everyone else had received theirs. A staff member advised me that there was a delay when it came to the crepes and that “the kitchen food is always faster” (the crepes are prepared in front of the cafe, where the kitchen food is out back)

I was happy to wait as we all know cafes can get busy, but then it got to the point where I had now waited 25mins for the food to arrive after everyone else.

In the end I had requested to have my breakfast takeaway as my whole table had obviously finished their meals, because let’s be honest no one wants to eat their food once everyone has already finished theirs.

What was most upsetting was there was no compensation for what was an obvious error on their end, they did apologise but no offer for a voucher or even a free coffee to make up for this huge delay, which truly did put a spin in the family outing.

I have been here multiple times over the years and never had an issue like this but things have definitely changed since the new owners...

My wife and I came in for breakfast because our hotel didn't have the options we wanted. Unfortunately Le Cafe De Paris didn't have what my wife wanted originally (granola) but she was accommodating and decided to get toast and hash browns. I got the Eggs Benny with bacon and the strawberry candy at the counter. At the last second my wife changed her order to a cheese scone and didn't want to bother about a refund. We got our food and she LOVED the cheese scone she said "it hits in all the right places." My eggs Benedict was perfect, sourdough toast instead of an English muffin... That's my new favorite way to have eggs Benny. The strawberry candy with my coffee was perfect. The nice french waitress came over while we were eating and offered us two more strawberry candies to make up for the refund of a dollar difference. Everything was delicious and we were very happy we strayed away from our free hotel breakfast to come here. If I could give you more stars I would. Thank you all for your wonderful service and...

I spontaneously walked into the shop on a Saturday morning as I feel like having a classic almond croissant and a cup of flat white. While it’s a school holiday weekend, I understand that the cafe could get a little occupied, but the service and quality of the food was unexpectedly poor. The almond croissant that I ordered was handed to me cold. I requested the almond croissant to be heated or toasted, instead it was being put into a microwave to be “heated”, as a result I received a soggy almond croissant. Next, I waited 15 minutes for my flat white to arrive. I hate to say this but the flat white that I received was the worst I had in my entire life. Despite having no foam, the milk was terribly froth, the taste was very thin and tasted like bland Nescafé coffee, even Nespresso machine tasted better. I requested the flat white to be taken away in a take away cup, half way through my drive the cap got lose and the coffee splattered all over the car. Conclusion: As a local, I will never return to this place anymore.

Hands down, the best breakfast place we tried on our New Zealand trip. The staff is amazing and quite patient with tending to queries and changes. We started off with all day breakfast and creamy mushroom. We were provided with alternative option to replace meat with additional hash brown and toast. The creamy mushroom was one of the most scrumptious dish that I’ve ever tasted. We tried Crepes with salted caramel and cream, which was to die for. In the end, we couldn’t resist having the mushroom pie which looked so good from outside. The crust was so crisp, and the texture was incredible. It’s a shame we were quite full and couldn’t finish it off. We had a croissant to go which light, flakey and buttery. Possibly a bit pricey, but worth every cent. Must try if you are in Rotorua and it’ll put you in a great mood to kick off the day.

We came for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The street outside was quiet but the cafe was buzzing. We were greeted immediately and seated straight away. The decor in here is amazing, much thought has gone into the French bric a brac on the walls and shelves. The star of the menu is definitely the sweet or savoury crepes. We had one of each and they were delicious, crispy around the edges and cooked perfectly in the centre. Only four stars for service since you have to line up for a while to order at the cashier, but at least you can browse the croissants and other pastries while you wait. The coffee came out wrong, but a quick negotiation with the barista sorted that and the replacement was great. Note it is only single shot here by default. Overall, a fantastic breakfast and would happily return.
