One of the worst “lunches” I’ve ever had! One of a few places that trick you into buying a dinner for lunch because the breakfast menu, which is more a breakfast/lunch menu, stops at 12pm. No cabinet food at all, and it is advertised as a bar & cafe. Told to sit at a table and have a look at the menu then they served a large group at the counter that came in after us. Told meals would take 10-15 minutes but took about 30 minutes. Other person at our table didn’t get their food until 5 minutes after us. Ordered the grilled chicken meal. Chicken was average and a bit dry. Got 6 of the smallest pieces of roast potato I’ve ever seen in my life, and a tiny amount of broccoli. The whole meal tasted like it had been fully cooked the day before and reheated in the microwave for me. The tiny amount of gravy tasted like the lowest quality instant gravy available. Asked after a couple of bites how it was and I said the chicken was average and a bit dry. Waitress came back out offering more vegetables or something, which I refused because they weren’t any better. You missed your one chance to serve something fresh and tasty and get some regular customers. $29...

Unfortunately we had a pretty average experience last night. We rang and booked a table for 4 with a highchair, we arrived and a table wasn't ready for us so we just chose a table and asked for the highchair. Quite a few minutes later they still hadn't bought one and another customer ended up going to get us one. It was 15-20 minutes before anyone come to see us to take a drink order and it wasn't busy at this time. We were the second table in the restaurant and there were maybe 10 lots in the garden bar area. The drinks took quite some time to arrive then so did the food. By the time we got out meals the 1yo wasn't happy so we had to scoff it down so we could leave because everything had taken so long. Hubby had steak and it was nice however had a huge amount of fat that wasn't cooked down at all. Kids chicken nuggets and chips were fine and the nachos were okay. Unfortunately we definitely wouldn't return here for...

We went to The Rusty Bros for dinner last night on a whim as it had an epic sounding Meat Feast platter on the menu! We were greeted by a lovely smiley waitress who was super attentive all evening. We had a few drinks while waiting for some others to join us....side note the Passionfruit Bliss cocktail is so yum. Once we ordered our tables food, it was somewhat prompt. Let's just say we were not disappointed, out came a beautifully presented, hot, fresh, hugely generous platter & gorgeous side salad. Everything was delicious!! The others at the table ordered the steak, vegan nachos, and the lamb shank, and all cleaned their plates and said how insanely good everything was, I think the lamb shank devourer was highly impressed. While it wasn't the most fantastic night to be out (raining) we had a lovely time outside under the front deck with the heaters above us, and the service was fantastic! Thanks guys, we'll be...

We unnecessarily booked for a birthday dinner here (place was dead). The food was so disappointing, not hot, not tasty. The highlight was the fries. We queried about one meal if it was meant to be hot and were told it should be room temperature… first kebab we’ve ever had at room temp. Charging $17 for three sticks of slivers of chicken seems pretty outrageous. The loaded Nachos were definitely loaded with cheese and raw onion. No one finished their meal, and that tells me it was truely disappointing as all our kids are good eaters and it’s a real treat for us all to go out for tea. Complained at payment, was given $20 off the bill, left with hungry kids and a hungry partner. The birthday boy cried because he felt bad for not eating his dinner and knew we’d paid lots of money.. so a pretty crappy experience. I’m very sceptical about the reviews, and wonder if the place has changed hands perhaps..

Happy to see a vegan section on the menu, it was the reason I went there. The vegan gringos nachos topped with vegan cheese. The savoury mix was quite sweet. Instead of traditional black beans it appeared to be a navy/haricot bean. It was a decent portion, served on a hot cast iron skillet. Overall the flavour profile didn't have come across as traditional - no taste of cumin, chilli, garlic, paprika etc. Hubby had the fish of the day. The fish was overcooked, chips soggy. The waitress was absolutely lovely. The premises is an older building. Cheerfully painted & pretty lights. The bathroom was simply dirty. The toilet pan & sink were both quite grubby. I personally would return

We visited rotorua for a holiday and were looking for a good restaurant and we happened to visit rusty bros. They have an elaborate menu. We got to choose from a lot of items. We totally loved the food, ambience and their service. We visited rusty bros all 3 days during our stay because we loved the food so much. The cheese garlic bread and prawns was absolutely delicious. Even the pizza was so good and the bread board was equally good. And the hot mocha was amazing too. We definitely recommend rusty bros. If you are in rotorua it's a must visit for some amazing scrumptious food.
