Hawthorn Lounge — Restaurant in North Island

Having been a loyal patron for many years, I am very sorry to see that over the last 18 months the quality of both drinks and customer service have gone down the drain. The menus have become smaller and smaller, with less and less variety. Recently I was here and requested something not on the menu, the staff didn't properly listen and brought me something I did not ask for, and it was utterly undrinkable! Upon giving them some positive feedback about my experience, the staff disagreed and told me that I was wrong!!

I since sent them an email regarding my experience, but it's been several weeks now and I have still had no reply, so if they can't be bothered to listen to their customers, then I won't be bothered to ever return. I sadly will no longer be recommending Hawthorne Lounge to others, and instead will recommend other more deserving establishments....

The Hawthorn lounge is a unique place. Tucked away up a unsuspecting flight of stairs you are taken into another world as you step into a dimly lit room covered in red velvet curtains and decorated with old school class.

The staff are the perfect balance of knowledgable, helpful, and friendly and you immediately feel like they are your friend.

Every cocktail and drink ive had at the Hawthorn Lounge has been original, tasty and unique. I have yet to find one I dont like.

There is often live music which is very good, and there are chess, cards and other games handy to play. Its not uncommon to come in and see multiple tables playing various games while chatting and having a cocktail.

A must if you are in Wellington and you're after a classy evening...

Super disappointing experience that just occurred. We went to Hawthorn Lounge tonight to celebrate the wedding of our siblings over in Melbourne. Due to the many lockdowns that had happened over there, the date had moved several times and none of the friends or family could be there so it was a pretty big moment. So we were video calling our siblings to celebrate them before we were very rudely told to hang up from a video call with family overseas by a staff member despite no one else being in the bar. I understand that perhaps our excitement made us quite loud but the manner in which we were spoken to was disgusting. Perhaps that's why no one else was in that bar?
