Oh my! I actually cannot rate Hello Pickle highly enough. I had heard about it from friends and finally today I decided to try it out. Well… wow. Just wow.
The coffee was easily the best I have had in Whangarei. Beautifully smooth and creamy, with thick frothy milk, exactly as a cappuccino should be! The milk looked to be real whole milk from potentially a local supplier? Whatever it was made a noticeable difference. Even if all you are after is a coffee this has got to be a go to!
Admittedly I did not actually go in for food but the lovely lady directed me to their Friday special of a Brioche eggs bene bun and it looked so darn good I thought “bugger it!” and I am so glad I did, the bun was perfectly golden and crisp on the outside and like a chewy soft cloud on the inside, the poached egg was cooked to perfection and dribbled delicately over the rest of the fillings. The bacon was the ultimate balance of salty and crispy, and the homemade tomato something something on the base, just topped it all right off… The absolute star though was the hollandaise… Phewwwyy! Not too much, not too little, but all flavour!
Finally, (sorry for the novel) I received some good old fashioned decent customer service. It was my first time there and yet the 2 ladies behind the counter treated me like a regular. It was an absolute pleasure from start to finish interacting with this...
Read moreA package deal purchasing Hello Pickle pies. A couple of bright round tables with a couple of chairs sit either side of the front window displaying exquisite pies, tasty combination sandwiches and delicious sweet morsels. The ladies serving were welcoming and passionate about the food we asked about. I had a chicken, brie with cranberry pie while my 'partner of sniffing out a good pie', chose a beef, mushroom with sour cream pie. A buttery short pastry base with a Flaky pastry topped a very delicious filling, overflowing with the goodies we had chosen. The pie held its shape until the final morsel was eaten. Beautiful. Takes pies to a different level. Pies are between $9-14 each as a meal on their own. Each pie has been made with the same passion as the ladies serving and us eating them. Our Coffees did not disappoint either. Such an enjoyable experience as we sat outside at our table chatting to other customers with a pallette for a...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing 10/10 !!!! Tried their Chicken/Cranberry pie last time and “Wow”. Been waiting 6 months for the opportunity to travel to Whangarei again and try their “Smokod Brisket, Jalapeño & Cheese” pie
I travel around for my work and I’ve had a few award winning pies but I must say this pie tops the list. The pastry is so good, nicely pull beef, gravy and a generous amount of cheese and jalapeños … FANTASTIC !!!!
Ended up buying another 2 more for my daughters to experience. An award winner...
