First of all, it's worth pointing out that this is a very busy location. In the drive through section you had cars lined up waiting to come in to the run off area on the KFC location. So they were literally outside of the doors of the premises. Inside it was slightly less busy. They have a couple of machines to help do your order via the automatic teller. So far so good. Unfortunately to use the machines you need to register a number. Now what no one tells you is that you need to go and get these tokens at the counter in order to get a number so that you can make your order at the machine. So we stood there for 5 minutes trying to work out how to use the system before giving up. We then saw two other people also trying to work it out before they also just lined up to wait. It was only when someone who was a regular customer went up to the counter whilst we were waiting to be served and took a token that we realised how the system worked. When we eventually got served, the poor lady who served us was new, and was clearly stressed. On picking up our order, we discovers that we had the wrong order, when we pointed that out to the staff member he went away, and we assumed he was going to rectify ths mistake. It was when he didn't reappear after a couple of minutes that we came to the conclusion that he wasn't coming back to address our problem. When we got his attention, we pointed out that not only was the order wrong but that two of the items were missing, he returned with one of the missing items, and insisted that the rest of the order was correct. Because how busy it was and how clearly stressed out the staff were we let it go. But it's probably the worst service we've had at a KFC. And then when we got back to our accommodation we found that our motel fob had been stolen (possibly pickpocketed whilst we were at the KFC), and the fries were awful. The fries were cold, and a mixture of old fries which had clearly been in the tray for a while and some newer ones. It gets extremely busy as it's the only KFC in the lower Hutt Valley. They also don't have nearly enough staff working to keep up with demand. Expect your order to take a long time. Don't even bother with the drive-thru, it often floods out onto the street and around the corner.
For the same reason, the tables and floor inside the restaurant are often dirty and not cleaned for a long time.
They always screw up the order in one way or another. Every single time I come here I check the food they give me at the pass, and every single time there's something missing and I have to ask them to get it.
The self-serve kiosks don't let you customise orders nearly as much as they used to. They used to have the buzzers to alert you when the order's ready as well, but that's gone too. They only have 2 kiosks when there's room for 4. KFC doesn't appear to be in the business of making things better for their customers over time.
Positives?
The food is relatively inexpensive for what you get compared to other fast food places, but it's still not that cheap.
Popeye's will be around the corner soon, so there is a chance this KFC will need to get...
Read moreService was a little rude and unfriendly but that aside, huge open fresh looking dine in area, clean - ish didn't see one person keeping area clean in the 1 HR 15min we were there, so staff etiquette and direction needs work, busy fast food restaurant services dine in, order online, delivery and drive thru however this is the environment agreed to work in so offer the customer interaction standards also and then this would've been a 10/10 review. Sorry but cleanliness detail and customer interaction from both the counter and rear of the kitchen lacked direction, focus and friendliness. Supervisee was super bossy to colleagues so you could almost see why rest of staff weren't smiling and interacting with customers happily. All begins at the top people and has a flow on effect. Grump over, the food was outstanding who ever cooked the chicken that day and the burgers wowzas 👍🏻 great job you really made the experience more enjoyable thanks to all who were cooking and prepping you delivered outstanding quality food.
