La Cloche Central | Wellington French Café & Catering — Restaurant in North Island

La Cloche is my favourite cafe in all of Wellington and the perfect way to start the day. Bright and sunny and open, with delicious food and tremendous coffees are all a part of it. But it’s the people here that make it the best. Friendly, welcoming, and coffee and food lovers themselves, they give it a great atmosphere and make you feel at home. Favourite foods are the croque monsieur, pain au raisin, and croissant. First tried a piccolo here and it’s my coffee style of choice now, it lets the coffee taste shine with a bit of milk to soften it and for extra flavour. Their tea selection is really good too, served by the pot. Thanks for a great week back in Wellington for me, La Cloche, sadly I must return to Auckland now. I will miss you...

I ordered a plat du jour off the chalk board menu. I had stopped reading what was in it at sausage and bacon when I ordered. For $20.00 I imagined something like a kiwis "big breakfast". What I got was a small green salad and a small ramekin containing baked beans, 3 thin slices of a small sausage and a piece of bacon about the volume of my thumb. My experience at La Cloche in Central Wellington was exceptional. From the warm welcome to the impeccable service, every aspect exceeded my expectations. The salad was a burst of fresh, vibrant flavors, showcasing the chef's expertise. The lemon cake was a delightful finale, perfectly balancing sweetness and tanginess. The flat white coffee was expertly crafted. The staff's attentiveness and passion for providing a memorable dining experience were evident.
