Went there tonight to pick up an order and and a young man waiting for his order was not wearing a mask. A number of patrons questioned why he was not wearing one and he was asked to leave. Did leave but came back in. Owner was asked why he was not questioned why he was not wearing one before being served and her response to this was the young girl of 13 did know what she was supposed to do this. Owner was then asked why she was serving if she did not know the rules. Owner then said if she was serving would have not served the customer. Totally unacceptable response when Omicron is getting rampant in NZ. Should not have young staff being responsible for asking the question. Owner then went on to say how she always monitors mask wearing to protect the Whitianga community. That to me is a total lie. As a business owner in our community more diligence needs to be put in order here. Given this happened tonight whos to say it has been a regular occurrence over time. I will personally be telling the locals of this unacceptable behavior of one of the local businesses in...

After reading positive feedback for this place. We stopped by to check out this place on Wednesday 16/04 with my kids before heading back to Auckland. I must say its the best fish and chips ever. Even better we were served with a smile. The fish was fresh and cooked just right. Good portion size for $7.00. Nicole (I think she's the owner) she greeted us with warmth, very friendly, good vibe and very welcoming. She also recommended what to get as we were undecisive with our individual orders. My teenage daughter ordered a cheeseburger and chips and she went on about how tasty the burger was and chips was done perfectly. Great service 👏 will definitely return to visit Whitianga. Must recommend this place, affordable takeouts for all and, plenty room inside to sit down and eat. Thank you Nicole for your...

Review from our visit in June 2024

We had an amazing experience here. From the moment we walked in, Nicole greeted us with a warm smile and a cheerful attitude, making us feel right at home. The service was not only friendly but also refreshingly honest – she guided us on what to order based on the freshest catch of the day and even advised us on what to avoid.

The food was absolutely delicious. Some of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had - so good we went back for another order right after finishing the first. The seafood was incredibly fresh, cooked to perfection, and the portion sizes were generous. Even the ice cream was huge!

To top it all off, the prices were great, offering excellent value for such high-quality food. If you're in Whitianga, Snapper Jacks is...

Ordered lunch for my friends and I from here because our first choice hadn't opened yet. I had my usual crumbed fish (went with the snapper) and everyone else in my group had the battered version. Also part of the order were sausages, chicken nuggets, paua fritter, a burger and I think a battered sausage. No lemon wedges came with the order which was a bit of a disappointment. I don't think my snapper was that fresh and it seemed small but the crumbed coating was great. Menu is quite extensive and ice cream is also sold here. Indoor seating available and really nice customer service. I think she was the owner and we had a good laugh.

Look, you know exactly what you’re getting with a place like this: food, fried. This was like stepping back in time to an 80s fish-n-chip shop. They serve a vast array of affordable fried seafood and other snacks (Aussies be advised that a battered scallop is an actual scallop and not a potato disk as we were expecting). They also have ice-cream and milkshakes made with said ice-cream and a wide range of flavoured syrups. While we were there, a woman ordered an ORANGE milkshake which was, frankly, a horrifying idea but she seemed happy. Service is very friendly and quick. Just the sort of spot a beach town needs.
