I took a week to sleep on this before I wrote this review as I was so upset by how my friend and I were spoken to - but I am still taken a back by the service and treatment we had last week at Cooked.

I had been here three times over the Christmas break with friends - the food is great and we love the drinks, but the service... Jheeeeez! The delays were frustrating but fine - but the attitude was not. I won’t go on with the full story but when we flagged the delays with the manager - and our order being forgotten about he acted like a petulant child - being dismissive that they were busy (no matter how busy get the guac to the tables in under an hour... come on!) - it took two hours to get our full meal (four tacos, quasadilla, burrito).

When we were discussing the bill with the manager - our friend who was in the car park while we were asking a question about the bill overheard the manager say to the chef we were pushing back on something and the chef replied “well I’ll go tell them to get f*&ked”. Which is lovely

I mean we were stoked on a new spot to eat in the area - but with that sort of carry on we can’t go back. On top of this while we were there a beef burrito was served to a vegetarian (who was crying) and then as we left a separate group of diners (who has seen our conversation at the counter) came out and said they couldn’t believe the service either. I’m a local, I’m on Coro time. But that service - really needs some socks pulled up; as after a few conservations with locals (and reading reviews here) - this isn’t a unique case and this sort of feedback travels around the tight local community fast. Great margs, was excited to have something new on the scene - but will vehemently not be back. So sad! Be nicer guys - you’ll...

Rude staff, difficult to get food. I drove for an hour on 2/1/21 to come try this place, on arrival the young man with black hair was very rude to me, he didn't acknowledge me when I walked in, I stood in front him as he was behind the bar for some time until I eventually addressed him. I asked him for a table for 1, the restaurant was less than half full with very spaced out tables, they could easily double that capacity. He didn't reply, barely looked at me, in fact he didn't, then started staring at a reservation list. I asked him again after some time if I could eat he says 'no' I look around and see many free tables. I say can I get a take-away, he says no, he then said if I do want to eat there's a long wait anyway. I couldn't quite believe it. I've owned restaurants for 12 years in Auckland and know hospo well, this service was rude even for Auckland standard. Don't bother coming to this place. This is a genuine review unlike many of their others I suspect. I went over to a pub in Ha Hei, despite being about 5 times as busy they did fit me in, I had to wait for food but that's ok, after all making someone feel welcome is what hospitality is all about. I would rate Cooked a zero if I could. Have a look at the owners response to bad reviews (often about service and untimely preparation of food), very defensive. I'm expecting the same here, not open to...

Worst customer service ever! After being told the kitchen and bar was shut for 1hr we decided to take a seat and wait as we had taken a fairy from whitianga. We weren’t even able to buy a fizzy drink on a hot day. Another staff member came over after we had sat down at a table, to rudely tell us “we couldn’t stay and wait but that we had to leave the premises, because they had to move tables”. Don’t trust their website or hours in there window as they clearly support false advertising. Another excuse was that “Their kitchen is small” - before we had even said what we wanted and no one else was there. A sad ending to a family outing ! Wouldn’t recommend! (I NEVER leave reviews but this was just poor customer service and a...

I'm a big fan of Mexican food (the "real" stuff, SoCal Mex, TexMex ... you name it), and this was probably the best Mexican meal I've eaten in New Zealand. The fried pickles and jalapeño poppers we ordered as entrees were absolutely mouth-watering, and the mains (between us we ordered two quesadillas, the nachos and a couple of tacos) were all delicious with wonderful, complex flavours and generous portions. What's more, despite being busy the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Amazing food and service- especially Alex our server! As a Californian who used to live in Mexico, now living in Christchurch, I rarely find GREAT Mexican food on the South Island of NZ. My Auckland friends and I tried this place on our coromandel trip today based on recommendations from several friends and it was amazing! Not pictured, we got fish tacos, jalapeño poppers, fried chicken, fried cauliflower, chicken nachos, and some cocktails and food and drinks were excellent. Will definitely be back!

Dropped in to Cooked for dinner and received great service and a wonderful Mexican meal. We had fried Chicken and spuds with Chorizo to begin which was awesome, followed by Quesadillas, Burritos and Nachos for mains. All yummy and way too much food but we gave it a good nudge. Washed down with Margaritas, it doesnt get much better than that. Plenty more on the menu to try next time and well worth checking out. Great to see a Mexican restaurant on the Coro. Highly recommended.
