Joanne and Mervyn provide a welcoming and friendly service. The motel is in the heart of Whitianga so easy walking to the shops, beach, wharf and ferry to Cooks beach. The units ( 1-6) are dated, so expect a 70s decor experience. There are newer units (7-12) which maybe more modern. They did have ramps for one, so good for wheelchair access. |Our unit was very clean, however each room only has one power point so with todays devices you need to take a power board to charge everything. Wifi was quite reliable while we were there, though only have 5 GB for stay. Rooms are quite small with no wardrobe, though you can hang a few items on the wall and a set of drawers is provided, along with plenty of mirrors. |There is no air conditioning so the units are very hot in the peak of summer, though a fan was provided. |Units serviced each day with clean towels and we were provided with sachets of shampoo, soap, make up wipes which my daughter loved. |I do not drink tea and coffee however they are supplied in each room. |Our little fridge only had an ice box, so a freezer would have been handy for our week stay. A washing machine is provided free, buy powder at reception and coins for dryer if needed. |The pool is quite shallow however nice to cool off in on a hot day. |Location is key...
Read moreBit of a scam of a place if you ask me. Please be aware these people charge your card in full before your arrive. We were booked in for the summer concert weekend (Feb 2023) which was cancelled and a state of emergency had been declared in the area. Obviously not wanting to get stuck in the Coromandel we decided not to come. Called the motel four days out from arrival and the owner said sorry we cant offer a refund. I had paid $705 dollars for the room for three nights and they couldn't even offer a partial refund of even a room credit to be used at a later date. Although I agreed to your T&Cs and I understand your a business, but even a one night room credit to be used at a later date would of been the way to go. Without us customers you are nothing. Rude and arrogant owners, sent me a long winded email after I simply asked them a question about a refund. Expect a silly and unprofessional reply from the...
Read moreMana Nui is an older motel, but even so, it was very pleasant, well maintained, and very clean. Despite its age the place has clearly been looked after by people who enjoy what they do and love their motel. It has an old school kiwi beach side vibe that comes without pretension or hefty price tag of many other accommodations in the area.
Conveniently situated in the township with shops, cafes and bars across the road or nearby. Just a flat 3 minute stroll to the beautiful waterfront.
The owner was very friendly, easy to chat to, and so welcoming. We felt very at home. Clearly they are people who love their property and enjoy hosting visitors.
The 2 bedroom unit was clean with everything we needed supplied including fans in each room. Beds were comfortable and linen was fresh and good quality. Best pillows I've had in a motel ever. The pool was lovely as it was a very hot afternoon.
Would stay...
