The experience of dining out at this Thai restaurant on a Saturday afternoon was lovely. The ingredients of the dishes felt very fresh. The salad, the sides, the veggies in the fried rice and the green curry - they all were good and fresh. The taste of the dishes (green curry, friend rice, satay on rice) were on point. I would have personally preferred the satay sauce to be a little less sweet though. But still, it was on point. The rise was fresh and light. The spring rolls did ilnkr smell of bad oil (you'd be surprised to see how many Thai restaurants have spring rolls smelling of bad oil). The fried ice cream was fun - though heavy as expected. The taste was great. The sticky rice with mango could've been slightly different with fresh mango slices (instead of preserved mango slices they served) - especially when fresh mangoes are available currently. The ice cream was a good touch - not seen at Thai restaurants in Thailand or South East Asia. The service was excellent. Navin (the gentleman waiting on us) managed to pull off vegeterian versions of dishes when requested - like green curry (where we requested not to even put tofu, and he managed to get the kitchen to do that). Such flexibility increases the attractiveness of the restaurant immensely. This would definitely be my one of my go-to restaurants when in Tauranga. Strongly recommended.

The food was good, but the service wasn’t very good at all. Whilst others around had been waiting over 45 minutes, our order came quite quickly, once we ordered it. It took a a long time for a order to be taken, Even though the restaurant was very quiet. Asking for a second glass of wine took two attempts at least. The manager herself was not terribly apologetic, and seemed far too keen to blame her staff rather than taking responsibility. And there was no sincerity when asked if we’d enjoyed our meal. It might be the best Thai restaurant in Tauranga, but it might be worth thinking of choosing another cuisine if you’re heading here And value customer service.. But might be good for a takeaway or a ‘Faulty Towers’ evening out.

Pretty good food. I usually visited here in the evening and lunch is cheaper but evening time has more portion. Always pretty enjoying their food. Staffs are nice and friendly also kind. I found here the food is tasty but little bit salty. I am willing to go here again still. The light is a bit dark and I don't really like red background but not too bad. In overall, pretty nice Thai restaurant I can say.

Since the restaurant has responded, I'm leaving an additional review. Your response is truly perplexing. Was my complaint about the entree arriving before the main course? And no, I perfectly understand what the busiest time of the year means, which wasn't the case then. The restaurant was only about half full. I didn't anticipate such poor service from a moderately busy restaurant. But the most crucial point is how you handled my inquiry about the long wait. Did you even offer a simple apology for the delay? Did you automatically assume I was asking for my entree because I was waiting long? Did you ever mention that taking the entree first might delay the main course? Restaurants can get busy, and food can be delayed, but with proper apologies and responses, I wouldn't have wasted my time here, nor would we be exchanging these unpleasant reviews. I doubt I'll ever return, but I hope for improvement for your sake and for the sake of your customers. Have a pleasant day.

This was truly the worst experience. It took an hour and thirty minutes to receive our main course. When ordering, I specifically mentioned wanting the entree first. However, even after 30 minutes of receiving the entree, our food didn't arrive for over an hour. I noticed every other table (which arrived after us) getting served while we were left waiting. When I inquired about our order and why every table after us was served before us, the explanation I received was nonsensical. They argued that we had ordered an entree while the other tables only ordered mains, which was an absurd and baseless excuse.

Despite politely asking when our food would be ready, the response was that it was ready and would be brought immediately. Yet, we waited an additional 15 minutes after that assurance. Ordering an entree doesn't justify waiting over an hour for the main course. It doesn't mean watching every other table being served while we were left ignored. Moreover, when there are delays, an apology should take precedence. It was the New Year holiday period, and I understand if the staff might be short-handed or facing difficulties, but asking for understanding due to an entree order, while every other table was served, is simply unacceptable.

This was an appalling experience. The excuse provided for the delay in serving our food was unacceptable. If an establishment faces challenges, seeking understanding from patrons should come before giving baseless explanations. I felt disregarded as a customer. This experience does not warrant a visit again and certainly does not reflect a level of service...

Firstly, Thai Thani 2 is the superior of the two sensational Thai Thani's (the other being in Papamoa). Now that I have shared this valuable, and somewhat local information with you, we can continue ahead. I only ever review an establishment after visiting at least 3 times, this is to ensure both a fair & reasonable review, for you, my hungry reader. Thai Thani produces fresh, tasty meals & the wait time has never been more than 15 mins (I visit at peak eatin' time, 6.30pm), the staff are great, attentive, polite and welcoming. The veges are always fresh with minimal filler, and the spices and flavours are some of the best you'll find in any Thai restaurant in the BOP. Thai Thani 2 is hands down one of the best restaurants in Tauranga. So why one star missing from the perfect review? The music. And by music, I mean the one 3 minute song that plays over and over and over again. I've visited at least half a dozen times in the last 12 months - and it's always the same tune. Thats worth a whole star? When it stops you from visiting the restaurant, then yes, one star is sacrificed to the lords of single...
