I recently visited Wild Rice Thai in Rotorua with my family and we tried the Roasted Volcano Chicken, Thai Fried Rice, Spicy Noodles and Whole Fish.... Roasted Volcano Chicken was absolutely incredible! The chicken was perfectly cooked—juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The seasoning had the perfect balance of heat and flavor, making every bite irresistible. The smoky aroma added a unique depth, truly living up to the "volcano" name. The portion size was generous, and it was served fresh and hot. Excellent service and a must-try for anyone who loves bold, spicy flavors! Moreover the Thai fried rice was flavorful, with perfectly cooked rice, fresh ingredients, and just the right hint of spices. The spicy noodles were incredible—bursting with authentic flavors and the perfect amount of heat for spice lovers. The portions were generous, and the presentation was beautiful. The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance of the restaurant made the experience even better. Definitely one of the best places for Thai food in the area. 😋 Not only but also the whole fish we ordered was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender, flaky, and full of flavor on the inside. The seasoning was just right, enhancing the natural taste of the fish without overpowering it. The presentation was stunning, and it truly felt like a feast.🤤 The staff was Sapna who was incredibly attentive, explaining the preparation and recommending great pairings. Definitely a must-try for seafood lovers! I can’t wait to...
Read moreSo impressed! We have come down to Eat Street not really sure what we were hungry for, it's a Saturday evening and most places are pretty jam packed a sure way of knowing which restaurants are serving good food. Stop by Wild Rice and it's pretty empty, but the menu looks OK, decide yip we're going to eat here with 2 kids in tow it seemed like the best option. I didn't have high expectations and as much as I wanted to select the All you can eat menu I couldn't trust that the food was going to be that good so opt for Al la carte. Food came out relatively quickly and was piping hot, we got the Beef Pad Thai, Bbq Ribs, Chilli Prawns, Crumbled Haloumi and Truffle fries and to Cheese Roti kids meals. When I tell you I was absolutely positively impressed by the taste of the food I'm not even exaggerating! I was instantly disappointed that I hadn't selected the All you can eat because my gosh how frikn good!! The kids really liked their Roti and it was the first time they had tried Roti but gosh I was actually blown away at how good the food was! I've dined at many Asian Fusion restaurants in Auckland and not everyone gets it right, Wild Rice has got it!! And more people should be coming here because I will make a trip back to Rotorua just to come and have the All you can Eat menu! The staff were super friendly and attentive!! The restaurant is clean and tidy and I was actually pleased it wasn't busy because I wouldn't have considered it but damn, youve got to try it if you are in Rotorua! Highly...

We went there for lunch and ordered their pad thai noodles (both chicken and vegetarian version). We asked for hot for the vegetarian version but there was no spice added at all. Moreover, the vegetables were mushy because they were FROZEN vegetables. Additionally, the noodles when served were not actually hot but more warm to lukewarm which showed that it needed more time to be properly cooked.
Lastly, the customer service could have been better. The waiter did greet and give us menus but never came back to check in on us or the food. We were served once in the beginning when they took the order and had gone all the way to payment with no additional service. This is quite unusual as we’ve been to other Thai places before and they are usually great customer service. Just to preface, this place was not super busy either - there were quite a few empty seats when we went for lunch.
All in all, for the price you are paying (which is a bit pricier), the service and the food quality is not justified or matched here. There are many other Thai places in Rotorua that are better worth your time and money. They also serve you fresh...
