Bakers Lane — Restaurant in South Island

Omg this little bakery is amazing! Apparently there’s a great kiwi bake off star working here or probably the owner. Anyway the staff are beyond friendly just lovely. The place is really pretty and cute and relaxing ambiance wise . And I swear the backings some of the best I’ve ever come across and as a very well traveled foodie who’s obsessed with baking and cakes and pastries that says a lot! Lol. Cos I’ve tried a lot! Anyway the Portuguese tarts were better than many I’ve had in Portugal even and are amazing . And the vanilla custard filled doughnut was so incredible it went beyond adjectives! The shelves filled with amazing cookies are so good you will definitely want to come back for more! There got food looks amazing too i must come back and try them! Apparently the vegan doughnuts are so good too and you can’t tell they are vegan even. All bases covered here this is a place we want to keep running! They are new so let’s support them and make sure they stay here! Once discovered I couldn’t stand to lose them they are one of the best finds...

Felt like a coffee and a quick bite and was delighted to find arguably the best cheese scone I have ever tasted. All the cabinet food is made onsite, it all looks amazing, and the service provided by both the very friendly and welcoming young lady (who has now served me three days in a row because I now have a cheese scone dependency) and the lady who I believe is the owner, is second to none. They both recognized me from the day before, both greeted me with genuine warmth and enthusiasm, it's the those little things that make me want to come back over and over again. Great stuff.

I have now been back the past three days, all for toasted cheese scones with butter. I also had lunch there today, which was chicken pesto on house made ciabatta. I had it toasted, and it was delicious as was the apple crumble scroll.

I will definitely make the effort to come here the next time...

My family and I tried the brie cranberries chicken sandwich, the scones, the cinnamon pastry, lolly cake and cookies for breakfast. The ingredients are very fresh and the sincerity and effort can be tasted!

I wish every pastry I tried in my life is like that. No wasted calories.

There was a line but staff were efficient to quickly clear the customers. Wendy was there as well, very steadfast, smiley and steely.

There is high table seating located at the wide aisle outside the shop. Love the high ceiling of this Five Mile complex. It was a lovely breakfast for me and my family and I wish Wendy all the best in her business! Hope to see her shop thriving well on my next return trip to Queenstown in the...
