Lanna Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in South Island

The food at this restaurant was absolutely awful. I ordered pad see ew, green curry mussels and salmon curry. Somehow the only one they managed to bring me despite ordering twice was the pad see ew ...but if you've ever eaten pad see ew before you would never say this was what that was. It was like damp noodles with no spice and the sauce was totally wrong - It tasted almost creamy? And the noodles weren't even the right type or properly cooked. It's normally made in a wok but this was basically like noodle soup if you drained out the soup. They also don't have basic Thai condiments like chili garlic sauce.

Of the three things I ordered this was the one I was hoping to take with me to eat later. But after getting through my entire meal waiting for the rest of the food to show up it never did. After a long day out kayaking and wanting to be able to take home food because it's a 15 minute drive to my place it was extremely disappointing. Yum! This place makes delicious food. So affordable and extremely friendly staff. I love going here for lunch with my friends as I am always served quickly and with a smile. The food is cooked fresh and you can tell as it is so delicious. Personally I always order the pad thai with tofu because of the delicious sauce and because i am vegetarian. The options supplied allow you to pick from a range of noodles, curries and starters ensuring there is something for everyone. Each main dish can either be with one of 3 meat options or tofu. The tofu here is delicious and flavoursome as sometimes you can eat tofu that is like rubber but definitely not at lanna thai. Food here was absolutely terrible. The taste was extremely far from authentic. Understand that the taste might have been tweaked to suit the taste of the locals here but it has lost it's original flavour.

Ordered Tom yum soup and specifically told the staff in Thai that I would like it spicy and if possible, an authentic taste of true Thai Tom yum. She replied in Thai that it can be done but when the food came, the tom yum was really sweet and not spicy which is strange because it's supposed to be sour and spicy.
